Early life and education
Vishal Raaj was born on 27 may 1985, in Bellary, Karnataka, India. He moved to Bangalore in 2008 before settling in Mumbai in 2010 to pursue a career in filmmaking. He studied filmmaking at the Digital Film Academy, Mumbai, where he gained hands-on experience and specialized in storytelling techniques. During this period, he interned with Kodak Film Labs to enhance his understanding of film negatives.
Career
Vishal Raaj made his directorial debut with the Hindi feature film DREAM Lock, a murder mystery involving a detective investigation. Released by Panorama Studios, the film garnered critical recognition and achieved international success, securing in-flight deals, South American satellite rights, and multiple OTT and DVD rights.
In 2024, Vishal announced his upcoming film BRUME a project centered around themes of LSD and altered states of consciousness. He has also written nine full-length screenplays, one of which has been optioned by a Hollywood studio.
