The first Iron Bridge in the US was built in the 1830s (the Dunlap Creek Bridge in Brownsville PA), 50 years after Paine proposed one in Philadelphia. The Sunderland Bridge is frequently mis-attributed to Paine in older texts. Paine did not design the Sunderland Bridge, an only learned of if after it was constructed. undo Tag: references removed
