It has been suggested that this article be merged into Cancel culture. (Discuss) Proposed since April 2021.

A Consequence culture is a culture in which consequences are imposed for actions taken or statements made which conflict with cultural mores.

The term was applied by Sunny Hostin, a co-host of The View, in October, 2020, when she said on the programme, that those responsible for saying negative things in the media should be held responsible. Hostin said the term should be used to replace the term Cancel culture, while the other hosts disagreed. Other media commentators have also made similar comments, including actor Levar Burton.
