No, you are sadly mistaken Jerry. 2007-80=1927. Back in 1927, the Republic of China was on Mainland China and still estabilishing itself as the National Government of China. In 1927, Taiwan was merely a Japanese colony. So how on earth would ROC be equal to Taiwan 80 years ago??? Clearly Jerry you do not really understand the ROC or Taiwan at all. If you were actually from and schooled in Taiwan, you would actually know the real facts. It is apparent that you were not. You seem like some ABC in the US just supporting Taiwan independence without knowing anything about history. You are sadly mistaken and the consensus is that the country is called the REPUBLIC OF CHINA, Not just Taiwan. And it will stay that way. -] 01:38, 26 January 2007 (UTC) |

Taiwan is not a country...Taiwan is governed as Taiwan Province under the country called the REPUBLIC OF CHINA
You are a citizen of the REPUBLIC OF CHINA. You are not a citizen of Taiwan. ROC is not equal to Taiwan. Taiwan is a province of the Republic of China. Those are the real facts. You can't change them. Stop trying to push a DPP Pan-green point of view. The Republic of China is the Republic of China 中華民國 中華民國不是臺灣
中華民國萬歲, 三民主義萬歲, 反共匪, 反臺獨 中華民國萬萬歲! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nationalist (talk • contribs) 01:37, 19 January 2007 (UTC).
- I am the citizen of the ROC, but I'm still from Taiwan! Saying I'm from Taiwan does not mean that I support Taiwan independence. Because, again, Taiwan is the common name for the ROC. See Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions (common names) for yourself.--Jerrypp772000 23:04, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- It has become the common name, but on Misplaced Pages we want to the cold hard facts. So that is why we can put Taiwan, ROC or Taiwan, Republic of China. They still know it is from Taiwan. Republic of China is the country. Just like we put Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. Same thing there. Taiwan is still merely a province of the ROC. Misplaced Pages has also agreed to recognizing the name of the Republic of China. You can see that the article name is the Republic of China, not just Taiwan, like you would find in other encyclopedias. Therefore, you have to respect Wiki naming conventions. -Nationalist 03:16, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- It is certainly true that Taiwan is part of the ROC, but putting Taiwan will be more appropriate. Here are some reasons:
- ROC is known as Taiwan, we should always use the common name. see the naming conventions.
- It says in the article, it is governed by the ROC anyways.
- Most, more than half, of the citizens of the ROC consider themselves as Taiwanese, and not Chinese.
- Taiwan is also an island where Guantian and lots of others are located at.
- It would be confusing to people who don't know a lot about the history of China, they would not know the difference between the PRC and the ROC.--Jerrypp772000 03:10, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
I've been having similar discussions with Nationalist (talk · contribs) over the birthplace of Chien-Ming Wang (feel free to comment). While all sources say Taiwan, they are insisting on using Republic of China. There seems to be alot of POV pushing and original research from this user. Yankees76 03:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Please, folks. This is not the place for political debate. The relevant policy is at Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions (Chinese).--Jiang 04:02, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: Question
And a good question it is, too. WP:3RR was put in place as an "electric fence" to prevent excessive revert wars, but users who are obviously "gaming" the system are still subject to blocking under the policy. There are a few options for dealing with such users -- you can open a request for comment regarding their behavior, or you can make a report at the 3RR noticeboard, or the incidents noticeboard. Hope that helps. Luna Santin 02:47, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
