Mark Benson

Hi. I noticed your edits. Nice work! I've deleted one small line, as it seemed to have WP:NPOV issues. Perhaps you'd like to join WP:CRIC, the Cricket Wikiproject? --Dweller 09:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I remember your exploits and it's great to have you here. Unfortunately, the way that Misplaced Pages works, you can't just add information that you "know to be true". (See some of the links in your welcome message) Statements of fact must all be verifiable from reputable sources. If you have access to a published survey of the opinions of teams, that's great, that'd be proof. But anecdotal evidence is insufficient. Does that explain better? --Dweller 11:57, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi. Thanks for your message. I appreciate that this is one of the most perplexing aspects of Misplaced Pages for a newcomer. If everyone believes it to be the case, then someone, somewhere, must have said as much in a verifiable source. Please read WP:V and Misplaced Pages:Reliable_sources#Claims_of_consensus. I'll do a Google search for "best umpire in the world", but if Benson's not won the award, even if I find some verifiable sources claiming he is the best, we can do no more than state that "some people consider him..." --Dweller 12:12, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

To demonstrate the problem, our article on Simon Taufel already claims he is the best in the world... which I'll delete as well. --Dweller 12:14, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

hah you beat me to it. Google holds an out of date version. --Dweller 12:15, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Mark Benson

Hello, I've reverted your edits to Mark Benson because the changes I made were explained in the summary.

1. The WP:MOS on section headings recommends capitalising only the first word in the heading.

2. The image I replaced (Image:Mark benson-heart.jpg) with the existing Benson image will be deleted today as having no source or licencing information.

3. The placement of the image was stylistically poor and so moving it to replace the one about to be deleted makes a lot of sense.

4. The citation required tag was added in order to provide some reliable source which says Benson is considered to be one of the best umpire's in the world. This is a subjective statement so it needs justification.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you'd like to discuss this further. The Rambling Man 17:07, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Reverting articles

Please be aware that WP enforces a three revert rule on articles which is getting close for you with regard to the Mark Benton article. I will revert my changes because, as per above, they are all justified and I have attempted to communicate this to you. Breaking the three revert rule is considered vandalism which could ultimately result in you being blocked. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me in order to discuss this further to prevent the situation spiralling out of control. All the best The Rambling Man 17:07, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from User talk:The Rambling Man. Please be careful not to remove content from Misplaced Pages without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. The Rambling Man 17:21, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Image licences

Hi. I notice you've changed the licence for Image:Mrb-cricket.JPG to PD, but it is the same image that appears here, can you explain this? Cheers! The Rambling Man 17:44, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Markbenson-heart.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Markbenson-heart.jpg. Misplaced Pages gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. 18:09, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
