Stubs

When creating short articles that don't fully cover the subject you can mark them as stubs. You can do this using the template {{stub}}. Since you have a good knowledge of what you are writing about it is better to use a specific stub, e.g. if its a UK road use {{UK-road-stub}}. To find the right stub there is a list at WP:WSS/ST. Unspecified source for Image:Irish Ranger.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Irish Ranger.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Misplaced Pages:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:18, 17 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — The Sunshine Man 20:18, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Royal Irish Rangers

Your reversion was so far-reaching that it re-introduced many factual inaccuracies. If you want to amend then you do, of course, have the right but please make small amendments that you can justify. I served in 2 R IRISH for 8 years. You, I note, are Canadian. It is unlikely that, in this one small regard, you are beter informed than me . --MJB 06:51, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Please reinstate your changes, sans the lyrics; this was my mistake. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 06:54, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Killaloe

The page looks much better - thanks for your help (although I still think 'popular' should be in there!) ;-) --hydeblake 09:54, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Wow - the new lyrics make the whole page look so much better - and are absolutely fascinating! Cracking stuff - thanks! --hydeblake 10:36, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

River Teme

Is it you who has been asking for more details of the sources on navigability? If so, please contact me at Peter@peterkingiron.freeserve.co.uk. Peterkingiron 20:43, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Apostrophes

Hi Maxburgoyne!

Recently, I removed an incorrect apostrophe from Royal Irish Rangers. You've restored the apostrophe, with an edit summary of "reinstating possessive apostrophe". This is not correct. It's means "it is" or "it has". It's never means "belonging to it". Its means "belonging to it". You can read more here or here (from Purdue University). Please be careful to proofread your work when editing Misplaced Pages, and please do not "correct" grammar to an incorrect version. Best wishes and happy editing, Firsfron of Ronchester 17:40, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

PoW status

Have you not been keeping up to speed on this discussion, "PoW status cannot and did not apply to the IRA, " Under British law Reliable neutral sourcethey were considered POW’s. When did the British Army stop acting and engaging the IRA as an Army. The answer is never! Only now released under the Freedom of Information Act. http://www.patfinucanecentre.org/misc/opbanner.pdf . IRA prisoners were POW. Article 5 of the GCIII states that the status of detainee may be determined by a "competent tribunal". Until such time, he is to be treated as a prisoner of war. So for those who did not get designated with SCS - then I would like to see the reference for their "competent tribunal" - otherwise they are assumed to be POW's especially if POW status is claimed. Have you got the idea now?--Domer48 18:53, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about the tone, just copied it stright from the discussion page. Where it gets a little heated. Sorrry again about that. regards--Domer48 19:13, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Just to keep you up to speed, this is the next point I will be making.
Geneva Convention
4.1.3 Members of regular armed forces who profess allegiance to a government or an authority not recognized by the Detaining Power.
The IRA Army Council became the legitimate government of the Irish Republic in 1938 (a government "not recognized by the Detaining Power") and the Provisionals were appointed as the legitimate successors to the 1938 Army Council by Tom Maguire in 1970. All members of the IRA were therefore members of a legitimate army, and entitled to POW status under the Geneva Convention. Just in case you would like to join the discussion. Regards--Domer48 19:52, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Katie Hopkins AfD

Hello, just noticed that you failed to cite if you were supporting the Katie Hopkins article to pass of fail its AfD. Please could you pop over to that page and edit it to show your view, or place "Comment" at the beggining if you have no viewpoint.

Thanks very much, and I'm sorry if this sounds petty. :D Dalejenkins 19:35, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Knighton Railstn.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Knighton Railstn.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Sounds Reasonable

Hi Maxburgoyne, on your reversion on the Bobby Sands page, I would remind you that Jesus Christ was a convicted criminal, who offered up His life. Should we include that category "convicted criminals who committed suicide," on His Article? Could He also have prevented His Own death? Dose that sound reasonable? --Domer48 14:05, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Bobby Sands

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. --John 19:12, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Bobby Sands 2

Please remain civil. I am more than willing to engage in intelligent debate with you, but there is no need for you to make such comments. Thank you. Brixton Busters 08:29, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
