At what point does a percentage become "negative?" 70%? 60? 50? The old American 100% = "A" and 60% = "F"? And what makes ''your'' POV definition of "negative" the norm? Why not leave it as "mixed" and let the reader decide how to judge the reviews instead of you pushing your POV on them? ] (]) 04:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Dwarfmyth.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dwarfmyth.jpg. Misplaced Pages gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. 23:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Armageddon Online

A tag has been placed on Armageddon Online, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done because it is an article about a certain web site, blog, forum, or other community of web users that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on Talk:Armageddon Online. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. SUBWAYguy 21:14, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Please note

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. SUBWAYguy 21:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Please note

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! SUBWAYguy 21:38, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cl2.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cl2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I can understand why you think the info is extraneous. That said, I think the movie is pretty much a 'guy flick.' Oh, to find a critic who would come out and simply say that, so it could be cited.Arcayne 14:42, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Please use edit summaries

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be extremely low:

Edit summary usage for Stabby Joe: 33% for major edits and 0% for minor edits. Based on the last 150 major and 1 minor edits in the article namespace.

Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 02:54, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:105333_large.jpeg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:105333_large.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 00:56, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

SotC

Sections titled "other media", "other information", "in popular culture", etc are trivia sections in all but name. The uninteresting obscure Simpsons Game reference is arguably a defining example of trivia and why it's to be avoided. At the very least let's remove said reference (which is unsourced, I might add) and the bullet points per article standards. – Steel 15:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. Yes, ideally the film one ought to go as well. My main point is that SotC is an FA, and that these kind of sections go against what a featured article is about - high quality encyclopedic information. I imagine you can see the difference between the rest of the article and the other media section. The rest of the article is high quality and covers the things that really matter: what's the game about? How does it work? What ideas went in to making it? What did critics think of it? (and so on) The article as it stands is really let down by said other media section, which is little more than "it was mentioned in passing in a film, it was mentioned in passing in a game, etc". You say it won't grow any larger (true, it probably won't), I say we'd be better off just removing it (we won't miss it, I assure you). What do you think? – Steel 16:14, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello Stabby Joe. I see that we have slightly different opinions on how to structure the content of the reception section, but I would prefer that you didn't just undo my changes without a proper comment. Thanks Level Spirit 01:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, of course, and I have no problem with your recent edits, it was just the "undo" that I thought was a bit off. Looking forward to your suggestion. Thanks Level Spirit 20:18, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Halo 3

Greetings, Stabby Joe. I noticed that you undid my Wazap ranking of Halo 3 since you commented that no one should care as it only has five reviews. Granted, Metacritic does have 70 reviews for Halo 3 and is a larger source but Wazap is a great alternative aggregator of scores and all five of its reviews are unique to Wazap. With the Wazap link this would total for 75 unique reviews on the Halo 3 Wiki page and make it even more comprehensive, which is of course the overall aim of Misplaced Pages. So pending no argument, I will be posting the link back up. Jameslionelprice (talk) 19:18, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I stand corrected on the number of reviews actually being 74 total between Wazap and Metacritic. You are false in assuming I am putting up this link just as an "excuse" to call it the top Xbox 360 game. As I have stated before, all I am doing is adding more reviews not included on the Halo 3 Misplaced Pages page to make it more comprehensive, which is the overall goal of Misplaced Pages. It is a matter of fact that the game is the top rated Xbox 360 title on the site which deserves mention in the interest of being entirely comprehensive. At what point does a percentage become "negative?" 70%? 60? 50? The old American 100% = "A" and 60% = "F"? And what makes your POV definition of "negative" the norm? Why not leave it as "mixed" and let the reader decide how to judge the reviews instead of you pushing your POV on them? 67.135.49.211 (talk) 04:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
