I see that you have reverted my deletion of an urbandictionary.com link. Could you explain, please? My understanding is that Urban Dictionary is iffy as a source to begin with, and that it is generally only usable for slang terms when no other source can be found. ], by contrast, is a well-known term with a long history. Surely there are more ] sources for a definition. In any case, I don't see what the link adds to the article, especially given its incorrect information (such as the pseudo-definition "Any compliment a gay man gives to another gay man. Usually to cause drama.") -] (]) 22:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC) |

Bruce, that's a great picture on the Library Company page. However, that building (at 5th and Chestnut) is now the site of the American Philosophical Society. Might the picture be better suited to the APS entry? Wash West 191 01:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Camp Minsi
An article whose existence and notability you have supported in the past has been nominated for deletion. Please give your opinion of the deletion request and the importance of this article at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Camp Minsi. Thank you. MinsiPatches 20:26, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure where to go on this one. I would like to save it, but the biggest problem is a lack of references to assert any notability. There is a lot of material that is just not pertinent; a lot of the history material seems to have no direct relation to the camp. Just one example: the detailed description of the ice industry. All those special awards do not need separate sections. The gallery of patches needs to go; these are non-free images that do not add anything to the topic. I think the best solution for now is to merge the pertinent material into Minsi Trails Council—that way any future recreation does not get tainted by an AfD. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 20:25, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- I saw your note about lack of project support. I stayed out of this at your request, as did Randy and Chris and, but our consensus was that it should have been merged into the council article. The article simply did not assert notability and I saw no way to do so. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 16:46, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Weygadt Scout Resevation
A tag has been placed on Weygadt Scout Resevation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to a nonexistent page. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Note also that Camp Weygadt is a redirect to this broken redirect, so it may also be subject to deletion. If you are able to retarget either of these titles to an existing article, please do. Strikeout
I have stricken out my notes on the canvassing on the Camp Minsi AfD nomination (accept for the original note on MinsiPatches.) While I disagree with your request that I stop I believe that this is the best thing to do to stop this dispute from growing. Also I am sorry if it appeared that I was not assuming good faith on you and the other editor (I was though looking back on it I can see why you might think I wasn't;) however I do not believe MinsiPatches acted in good faith by contacting members of the Wikiproject Scouting who opposed the merge. Phila. School of Pedagogy
Hi Evrik, thanks for spotlighting this in regards to E. Urner Goodman. I had to dig back to the original source (Kenneth Davis' book) which says, "in 1913 he graduated from the Phila. School of Pedagogy, and in 1913 and 1914 he attended Temple U. in Phila., where he did graduate work in education." From what I could find doing a quick google, one source (Princeton) mentions that the Phila. School of Pedagogy is part of the Univ. of Penna. I've re-edited the paragraph in question accordingly. Cheers, JGHowes - 17:55, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's rather obscure. Princeton's collection of the papers of Louis Fischer (here) mentions that "he attended the Philadelphia School of Pedagogy (affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania)...". But a cursory search at UP's website came up empty. JGHowes - 18:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Cedar Park entry
Hi evrik. Sorry I didn't ask you before taking down your picture of a cedar park home. I see you have restored it. I admit the sun obscures the image slightly, but even in the thumbnail the sign is still visible, so I wouldn't use the term "obliterates". Plus I think the picture of the one house in cedar park is neither indicative of the feel of the neighborhood nor showing an acceptable breadth. I don't know how to solve that argument though. I have put up two more pictures which I think are better, though I liked the idea of using the cedar park sign as the first picture. The images have captions, but I was having trouble keeping the captions and maintaining the alignment that I wanted (side to side on the left of the page). Let me know what you think should be done. Thanks. Sstolper - 16:41, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
cool. im'a add one or two more i think, now that there's a gallery. Sstolper - 17:24, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Redirect of Weygadt Scout Reservation
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Weygadt Scout Reservation, by another Misplaced Pages user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Weygadt Scout Reservation is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Weygadt Scout Reservation, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. I have put the deleted Camp Minsi article in your user space for you, at User:Evrik/Camp Minsi - this is "userfying" it. Don't move it back into the main article space without requesting to do so at Deletion Review, or it might just get deleted again regardless of any changes. Orphaned non-free media (Image:UCI letters.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:UCI letters.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:53, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
question about article expansion
Sorry I didn't get over to cast votes on those camp articles, but I see they survived.
I have a question relating to Misplaced Pages policy. I plan to expand the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus article with more information about the Chorus' history, its milestones, and its artistic directors.
But I don't think I can do this without running afoul of the "No original research" policy, for some of what I would want to include is not available on the Chorus' Web site or other publicly accessible documents. (I'd have to go through our archives, for instance, for the names of our past artistic directors.)
Any way to square this circle?

Camp Pioneer
I notice you reverted Katr67's {{refimprove}} tagging of Camp Pioneer: removing tag (while it can always be better it has severtal sources. This tag doesn't mean that there aren't enough sources, but—in this case—that the breadth and depth of the references are inadequate for the scope of the article. I agree the article needs additional references, and expansion. —EncMstr 21:05, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey Evrik, I removed the speedy deletion tag from Image:X 2004.jpg for now. The Commons:Image:X 2004.jpg one seems to be tagged for deletion as it is licensed Creative Commons non-commercial. Template for Southern California
Hi Evrik, sorry I took a while to reply, I was away and this is the first day for a while that I've had any serious time on Misplaced Pages. Did you resolve your problem with {{WikiProject Southern California}}? I'm really bad at writing templates, and if it's anything beyond the basics I usually ask for help. Amazingly, though (for me), I did manage to get the original version of {{Chemical Element}} to put the article into both the Version 0.5 and WP:Elements lists. Someone since has made it all fancy with parser functions etc, and it now also generates a WP:Chemistry listing, and this sounds to be the same kind of thing as you need. (We had agreed to pass ALL the elements for Version 0.5, but at the time there was no talk page template for WP:Elements, so it made sense to kill two birds with one stone.) Let me know if you need me to do anything, and good luck, Walkerma (talk) 06:26, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Since your current template is one using parser functions, I would try using the current version of the Elements template. If you can find the relevant section of the code that generates the categories, then copy/paste it over, and edit the project names accordingly. Don't forget that most templates generate both an importance cat and a quality cat, so you may need to copy over two sections. In my ignorance, this approach is the only way I can work myself; if it fails, I have to beg for help from more knowledgable people! Walkerma (talk) 23:20, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Featured picture candidates/John Doe
- Hi, I'd just like to let you know about Misplaced Pages Picture Peer Review, which I think you would benefit from, the next time you feel you have a photo worth nominating for Featured Picture Candidates. I noticed a large number of opposes in the John Doe nomination you made, which suggests perhaps the nomination wasn't prepared as well as it could be. The peer review is a much more constructive (as opposed to deconstructive!) assessment, suggesting a number of ways you could improve your image's chances before you nominate it for FPC. Hope to see you there! --mikaul 08:35, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

"Niggling" you
I honestly do not see how my actions can be considered "obstructionist", but you are entitled to your opinion. You moved an unsourced statement inside a cite that did not support the statement. Presumably this is the "niggling" you referred to. My intent was to ensure that a statement was sourced, not to "niggle" you.
Then, you put up a source for a statement and moved it inside of the first source again. I moved it because the first source still didn't support the statement. Then I found the new source didn't either and edited appropriately. My intent was not to "niggle" or obstruct anything that shouldn't be obstructed.

You marked my article (my second contrib to wikipedia ever) for deletion for a reason I don't understand - because it consists of one word only.

No I won't read any section anywhere above. You're not being precise enough. Plus you deleted the reference to the scientific paper I added to my article - good job. —Preceding unsigned comment added by I wish my wiki would pedia (talk • contribs) 17:28, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
I get what section you were referring to but simply marking my article for deletion is kind of mean. Also when you were marking it for deletion I was adding a reference to a paper. That reference somehow got lost even though I clicked on save page. Anyways, this was my first shot at adding stuff to Misplaced Pages with an actual username and I don't think I'll try again.
It's just creepy how people like you can edit and delete the things I contribute - not really worth the time you put into it (for me at least).
You are just a funny guy right there. You cleaned up my article by adding a reference to the MSN Encarta and deleting mine to an actual scientific paper?
Anyways. You can't just run around marking articles for deletion due to 'notability'. That's not a reason to delete anything. Reasoning consists of entire phrases.
Also - as I'm sure you're an experienced Misplaced Pages user - you must be quick on seeing that this was the second article I intended to produce. Therefore instead of just marking it for deletion you could have found a much nicer way of telling me what's wrong with my article.
Now one last issue remains: How do I delete my account? I bet you'll find a way - and you can make this one a speedy one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by I wish my wiki would pedia (talk • contribs) 18:11, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
notability
Hello Evrik,
You marked an article for deletion due to "notability". I added a sentence that compares the ByTheOwner business model to remax, century 21, royal lepage, and redfin. All those companies have similar notability as ByTheOwner. If the notability of ByTheOwner differs from those companies, can you please let me know? I am hoping that you can remove your deletion notice, or please update me on changes that you feel need to be made.
Thanks, William Stynes (talk) 18:17, 7 December 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by William Stynes (talk • contribs) 17:52, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

McGillin's Olde Ale House
My edits are not to prove a point. My edits are to shore up articles that are sorely lacking in verifiable, reliable sources. The Mummers article you cite has made a good deal of progress, from one cite for a tiny piece of the article to nine cites covering most of the article now . Prior to now, McGillin's Olde Ale House was chugging along with nothing but a cite to original research: nothing verifiable, no reliable sources. I see nothing to for you to be niggling me about. Reading Terminal Market
Hi. Thanks for all of your work on Reading Terminal Market and other Philadelphia related pages. We seem to have had some difficulty getting the references section in a format that is agreeable to both of us. I think your recent switch to the Harvard citation style is a good compromise, and I have attempted to switch over the last few citations to this style. I also moved two of the citations for Philbert the pig to the external links section; it's not a contentious claim and probably doesn't need three separate citations to back it up. Let me know if you have any other issues with the citations. Thanks again. Sbacle (talk) 12:20, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Dear evric Re Nominate Naresh sonee page and KEEP it alive please
Dear Evric ,Anarchia, Zetawoof, Double Blue, SatyaTN,
Meanwhile, I have already added two newspaper translated reveiws on Naresh Sonee page as per your instruction.Consider it as Natobility or Reliable Sourse. In day or two I will be adding more. Your goodself were the Editors who were looking after my page. I have also requested Graeme, Kindly when ever your good selves feel free or have time, you'll feel free to edit Naresh Sonee & Brhmaand Pujan pages. I again request you'll to edit, improve & beautiyfy the same more.I can also email or post here scanned copies of newspaers of India. If there still exist some doubt in you in my integrity. or for my Guru Naresh Sonee. Please also see that the page sustain / exist for good global noble reasons and reactions. I am not here to spread hatred in world. Regarding the lines you object 'contraversial poet' - 'aroused reaction' on my page etc . Some editor must have changed my original script. Genuinely I have nothing to do with all that. If you check my first day page,of Dec 2007. My original lines says-
Naresh Sonee Sohum Sutra is an Indian poet-author born on 11th February 1958 in Phagwara- Punjab . He is a commerce college drop out. At the age of four he and his three sisters along with his parents shifted their base to Mumbai . His father was a small time ‘wrist watch parts’ business man. Naresh Sonee enjoyed an in built quality of scribbling rhymes since the age of eleven. He writes in his country language Hindi as well as English . -'
Some editors must had done changes of words, sentences for the sake of improvement. such change and added contraversial line 'aroused reaction etc... were not put by me.If you can check with your tools , check it out.I am innocent. Those are not my line. Any way I will re put to original line. But 'You all Dear' please also guide how can one keep constant tract on it done pages reading, verfying them time & again. You too will agree , It is not possible for me to guard my page every hour. if some new editor add such line innocently or ignorantly to improve the compostion. What can I do? Pls help me all of you. In due course I also fear that rigid religious or LGBT group/individual can also jump / interfere with my page to play mischief in editing in the name of improving or cleaning up. So guide me the right way as you all are all expert. Save rescue me please. -Alan Sun---Dralansun (talk) 16:01, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic
A tag has been placed on Rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. -- Mentifisto 22:05, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
seeking some help
Hi, Evrik. We've edited some of the same Philly-related articles, and you seem to know your way around Misplaced Pages, so let me ask your advice about a nascent edit war over at Greater and Lesser Tunbs. There's a chap named Axamir who has sought to erase the well-cited fact that both Iran and UAE claim the two islands. (Short version of the history: once controlled by old Persia, the islands were handed to the UAE sheiks by the departing British hegemons in the 1960s. Iran occupied the islands in the 1970s under a nominal power-sharing agreement, and now claims them outright.) Anyway, Axamir declines to discuss his changes, and we've now reverted each other several times. How do I get someone to bring him to the discussion, and if necessary, to block him from editing? By the way, the same thing is going on at Abu Musa. Thanks for any advice or assistance. PRRfan (talk) 05:23, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Wanocksett
I agree with your edits. Your method was the best way of getting rid of the clutter. I tried to save it because I felt guilty getting rid of all the information ChiCk3ncoop put up there because I know him from working at Wanocksett. Thanks for making those changes. -Vcelloho (talk) 02:21, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
AETR
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article AETR, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Misplaced Pages:What Misplaced Pages is not and Misplaced Pages:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Misplaced Pages or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 01:46, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
AETR
Evrik, I converted this to a redirect so that it would not be deleted. I don't like your characterizing what you did as "reverting before consensus could be reached". There is typically no discussion on PROD - if you object, you remove the PROD template or you request restoration after it is deleted. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 04:24, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ISA wt 120.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ISA wt 120.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:49, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

LeFeber Northwoods
I wrote the book on LeFeber, quite litterally, and I personally wrote the wiki page for LNC.
The large part of the page is verbatim from "History of the Camps of LeFeber," an original document that I wrote in 2005 and continue to edit and add to. I consider these elements mine. Other select publications that I have generated for the Milw. Co. Council I have given up. This work that I do researching is my volition and I would expect--as all "good" Scouters in my experience have--to be given my due credit.Triptenator (talk) 08:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Image:Urner Goodman and Troop1.jpg
Good morning Evrik, I can remove the green circle, but I'm worried that the average reader might be uncertain as to which person is EUG, without some form of highlighting or identification. Rather than say, "2nd row, 4th from left" in the caption, I figured this was better. What I could do is have both with and without, see Image:Ford Scout.jpg as an example.
I believe Albert Hay Malotte is in the photo, I'll dig into some notes to identify specifically. JGHowes - 15:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Urbandictionary.com link
I see that you have reverted my deletion of an urbandictionary.com link. Could you explain, please? My understanding is that Urban Dictionary is iffy as a source to begin with, and that it is generally only usable for slang terms when no other source can be found. Backhanded compliment, by contrast, is a well-known term with a long history. Surely there are more reliable sources for a definition. In any case, I don't see what the link adds to the article, especially given its incorrect information (such as the pseudo-definition "Any compliment a gay man gives to another gay man. Usually to cause drama.") -Phoenixrod (talk) 22:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
