To answer your question, I'm production manager of KPLM-FM and KJJZ-FM in Palm Springs. KPLM (contemporary country) is one of only two 50kw Class B stations in the area. We're all over the Coachella Valley, Imperial Valley, eastern Mojave Desert almost to the Colorado River, northern Baja California and the eastern fringe of the Inland Empire. KJJZ (smooth jazz) pumps about 3.5kw out of Indio and, for the most part, usually broadcasts the smooth jazz format from Jones Radio Networks. That one pretty much just covers the Coachella and Imperial valleys. I voicetrack weeknights from 7-midnight. The rest of the time I'm either uploading commercials for air via computer or gluing commercials together with SAWstudio Basic. Won a few awards for my stuff, if you don't mind my saying so. :) If we have us a broadcast junkie here in our new buddy Ronald20, maybe I can get through to him if he realizes I'm in the biz. - ] 04:49, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
=== TV station articles - Regarding new materials being added by "problem user" ===
I saw that you recently spoke to Hinto about a particular user (Ronald20) who is adding materials to various TV station articles. From what I've seen already, a user or users (who is known only by several AOL proxy addresses) is/are adding a huge amount of information concerning past ownerships and programming formats. My main concern is that the user's writing style is messy (wording, grammar), plus the information is not referenced and many times is irrelevent to a particular station (the user likes to mention other stations in the market in detail for each article). Already, I have cleaned up articles for stations in various markets, including Boston, Detroit, Dallas, and Miami.
Can you inform me of the extent of these edits? Already, the user has done the same thing for several Atlanta stations which no one else has noticed at the moment, and I am becoming tired of cleaning up the mess. Thanks. ] 06:48, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
:Here is what I have encountered. For the Boston stations (with a specific emphasis on the stations not affiliated with ABC, CBS, and NBC), the user is only known by 152.163.xxx.xx (it doesn't say if this is an AOL proxy). For the other markets I mentioned, the AOL proxy was used, and in some cases Ronald20 shows up (particularly for ]). The major problem now are the Atlanta stations. The information that has appeared is a lot but is not wikified nor referenced. The station articles include ] (which I cleaned up), ], ], and ]. All stations have been written to using an AOL proxy if I remember correctly (starting with 204 or 205).
:I am beginning to suspect it is the same user by the writing style and the fact that he/she likes to talk about what programs the station broadcasts as well as past ownerships. ] 17:07, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
::Thanks for the clarification. I will probably keep tabs on the user(s). ] 20:38, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

:The reason I don't contribute frequently or choose a username is closely related to the response I got from this edit. I added a comment to the discussion page for the "riot" entry, which is truly a beautiful thing. I also don't disagree with a policy of removing edits that don't seem to make sense. However, your reasoning is inadequate, in my eyes. The reason a forum like this has value is specifically that the unlikely is often true. Without elaborating, and letting the reader decide the likelihood of the existence of this particular cover-up, I also wish to say that any reasonably non-vandalistic edit that does not meet the criteria of an administrator really should, IMHO, be moved to the discussion page by default, not "disappeared" completely.

] should not have been listed as a ]. I admit that the original article from back in March (at ) was indeed a copy violation of ]. Unfortunately, I didn't know this when I started editing the article. Despite this lack of knowledge, the article has been expanded and rewriten. Now it only has parts of two sentences which are the same as the original source (a problem which can be easily fixed). The article also has a good deal of info not in the original link. Any similarities to the original link are now due to the fact that the article follows the main points of his life. In short, while the article may have originally been a violation, it is no longer one. I don't think we should delete an article merely b/c it started out as a copyright violation.--] 00:09, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
:Thanks for the response. I'm aware that the article needs expanding--it has just been a low priority for me. I disagree that the article is still a copyright violation but since I didn't originally write it (and only cleaned up the language and added additional info at a later point) let's go ahead and let it be deleted. Once the article is gone, I'll write a new, non copyright violation article. Best, --] 12:06, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

Hi BlankVerse. Thank you for supporting my recent RfA. I was surprised and humbled by the number of positives votes. I'll be monitoring RfA regularly from now on and will look for a chance to "pay it forward". In light of your comments, I'll also try to play an active role in trying to help SchmuckyTheCat, Huaiwei and Instantnood resolve their differences. Cheers, --MarkSweep 02:32, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for supporting my RFA. It couldn't have happened without your effort. FeloniousMonk 18:06, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

SoCal WikiProject
I've made a list of the children of Category:California
Just to let you know, I've created a list of the child categories of Category:California, at: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject California/categories. Let me know what you think of it. JesseW 00:29, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
WikiProject California
I've been editing articles on California for a long time already, but it is noly recently that I've actually put myself into the list. Some active editors who have not signed up but are doing a lot of work on California articles are:
- User:Moncrief, User:Willmcw, User:Gentgeen, User:Elf, User:Dante Aligheri, User:J3ff, User:Coolcaesar, User:Jengod, and more....
I'll continue working on these articles, and I'll be sure to check out WikiProject So. California.

Interstate 710
I am not sure where to find very good info on some of the Interstate 710's history. Mostly I have been relying on either some of CalTrans documents or http://www.cahighways.org. However, I know that:
- Exit #1 is designated as Anaheim Street, thus I assume that this is currently the highway's official southern terminus.
- 710 is a "Non-chargable" Interstate route . It never got federal funding, but is signed as an Interstate to provide continuity and connectivity. Most of 710 is signed as an Interstate because it already passes Interstate standards.
- But the portion from Hwy 1 South to Ocean Blvd is a type B "Non-chargable" Interstate. That segment technically cannot be signed as an Interstate until its upgraded to Interstate standards.
You can probably find a bit more information at http://www.cahighways.org/505-805.html#710 (Which reminds me, I have to check if the Interstate highway article does mention "chargable" v. "non-chargable" routes). Zzyzx11 (Talk) 10:54, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
