Mount Ararat

Hi Monlonet, I appreciate your additions to the Mount Ararat article. But can you please discuss them on the article Talk page before you add them? I don't think Tacentral.com is considered a reliable source (at least not yet) by Misplaced Pages. So until that is established, or if you can find another reliable source to back the claims of the etymology of "Ararat" then we can add this information. Please use the discussion page for the Mount Ararat article. Best, Serouj (talk) 18:28, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Armenian TV shows aren't enough... Those specific books, their authors, page numbers, and actual quotes from the books need to be used... While it does make sense that "Ararat" in the Bible is after an Armenian name, this needs to be shown using reliable sources... Serouj (talk) 01:42, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
quoting from "books" alone isn't enough either. You need to review WP:RS. Obviously, you are going to find many hilarious claims in books like Armenia, Subartu And Sumer. But while such sources can considered primary sources for discussions of ethnic nationalism, they cannot be used as secondary sources for the simple reason that they have no academic credibility. If you desperately want to believe something, you will always find some book telling you exactly what ou ant to hear. But this isn't intellectual honesty, and it has nothing to do with the purpose of an encyclopedia, which is trying to present expert opinion on what is plausible and what is not. --dab (𒁳) 14:02, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
