For blatant vandalism within the last few hours, please see Administrator intervention against vandalism. This page is for reporting vandalism for which an ongoing response is required. This primarily includes multiple sockpuppets, pages currently being heavily vandalised, users that need to be monitored, open proxies, and vandalism which requires study on the part of an administrator before responding. Accounts that have only been used for vandalism (with no recent activity) should also be reported on this page, so that an administrator can look through their edits. Please make sure to read the first two sections before using this page.
Shortcut
This page is intended to request administrator investigation of certain types of vandalism only. Do not use this page until you read the policies, guidelines, and procedures. For most vandalism, see Administrator intervention against vandalism. Alerts that do not belong on this page will be removed immediately, without response, and without warning. |
Pages
Repeated vandalism of a page by a single user should be listed at Administrator intervention against vandalism. This section is for reporting pages that are being heavily vandalised by multiple users, IP addresses, or sockpuppets. Administrators maintaining this page can designate pages that are likely to be heavily vandalised for a very long period. If you're not an administrator or don't regularly maintain this list, please do not add bolded alerts. Please use the following format:
* {{article|article name}} - brief explanation // ~~~~
- Popular media attention: Crips (Founder recently executed), John Seigenthaler Jr. and John Seigenthaler Sr. (Misplaced Pages controversy), Orhan Pamuk (Pending criminal case), Jimbo Wales (Autobiography scandal), He-man (vandalised in Penny Arcade webcomic), GG Allin (Recently profiled on VH1's "Most Outrageous Concerts" documentary)
- Long-term alert: Vandalism (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) seems to attract vandals ever amused by the fitting location. // Pathoschild 08:04, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
- Comparative military ranks of World War II (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - a user with numerous sockpuppets has taken to attacking this article nearly every day after repeated warnings and several three revert blocks. This has gone beyond a content dispute and is now nothing more than vandalism. The user(s) seem to be edit warring for kicks, inserting highly disputed information and ignoring all attempts at mediation. Article has been protected several times, but vandalism continues. -Husnock 05:43, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- Ted Kennedy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - vandalism and edit wars of this article were the subject of an ArbCom case that banned the anonymous editors, but the vandalism is recurring Robert McClenon 02:10, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- NewsMax.com (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Christopher Ruddy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - both repeatedly replaced with a much shorter version (independent of the original) that includes copyrighted text from multiple sources. This has been done by User:Paula_pradines (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). These are user's only edits; no edit summaries or talk page edits. User has been blocked (24 hours) but multiple AOL IPs have since been making the same changes. Evil saltine 01:07, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- Might have something to do with an email recived on the helpdesk from someone claiming to represent newsmax.Geni 03:49, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- Porridge (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - Bizarrely, someone in IP spaces 67.71.140.* 67.71.141.* and a few other netblocks keeps vandalizing this slightly and conflating it with Oatmeal. 15 vandalisms in the last 2 days, followed by attacks on the home pages for people reverting it. Protection candidate perhaps. // Georgewilliamherbert 10:20, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
- Gary Neville (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) Multiple IP vandalism (please see history). Justin Eiler 17:44, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Brian Jacques (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) Repeated vandalism by multiple parties (including Soyuz123, Leefa, and 216.159.98.230). Warnings are in progress. Justin Eiler 17:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Peter F. Paul (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - Paul is a former businessman, convicted of a bunch of crimes including some connected to the Clinton administration. Somebody, using some sock puppets I'm pretty sure too, is trying to turn the page into a PR document about Paul, attacking his enemies, etc. They immediately remove discussion negative to him, and add attacks against those Paul claims to have hurt him. // Uucp 12:10, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- Nat Turner (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - vandalized by anon IPs approx twice a day for a long time now. A lot of it is racist vandalism. Worth keeping on eye on. – Quadell 22:10, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- Martin Luther King, Jr. (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - Vast number of IP edits. With his holiday near, even more vandalism likely.// Dimitrii 14:50, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
- Holiday two days past, heightened vandalism level persists. // Pathoschild (admin / ) 16:32, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- Tron (hacker) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - continued removal of real name due to a baseless german injunction. It seems that the trolls are now targeting the english wikipedia after the german wikipedia has blocked the article for days now. -- Pedewikia 15:56, 19 January 2006 (UTC) Addendum: This is also a case of popular media attention! -- Pedewikia 16:04, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

- Please keep an eye out for any articles having to do with Canadian politics, they have their national election on Monday and i've seen several instances of vandalism at Conservative Party of Canada and Liberal Party of Canada so far. Karmafist 03:12, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- The page Willa Holland, as well as its associated talk page, has been under attack for around an hour from several IP's. A warning on any of the individual IP addresses just causes them to switch to another. They are mostly blanking or just adding some silly nonsense. - Dharmabum420 08:54, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Pokémon (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) This page has been reverted three times due to repeated vandalism by ip addresses 205.169.164.65, 207.212.207.254, and 69.86.42.195. James084 22:04, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Janet Lupo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - An anon user, who's IP address changes, keeps changing the page to what appears to be really immature flattery about big breasts or else they don't use English as their first language. This has been going on for a few days at least. // Dismas| 18:20, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
- Canadian_federal_election, 2006 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - A major edit/revert war is almost certain to break out here and on some related subpages (see Category:Canadian_federal_elections_2006) starting around 0000 UTC tonight (January 23). Canadian law demands that Canadians not be told any election results from anywhere in the country until the polls have closed in their local area, but of course such laws are almost unenforcable in the age of the Internet (and Misplaced Pages's servers aren't in Canada anyway). Anyway, weeks of discussion on various talk pages seem to indicate deep division between some that want the page locked and some that want all information posted as soon as it's available. Please keep an eye out tonight. Thanks. // Aaron 15:10, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Fundamentalist atheist (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - The article has had its AfD tag removed multiple times. // James084 22:15, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
- John Lott (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) repeated bad faith sock puppet 3 revert violating edits. No discussion and made in bad faith merely to disrupt page and established consensus. Please take alook and block the following socks: 128.239.123.54, 152.163.100.10, User:Vitam, 128.8.128.33, 205.188.117.7, 66.92.151.249 and User:HenryBowman. Sockpuppetry is clear from looking at very recent history of reverts ont he article page and contributions. Thanks. Please help.Gator (talk) 16:18, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- Generation X (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - In the last day some odd edits have been made, changing the generation dates to February 20, 1967-May 13, 1978, which, in context, is not only incorrect, but pretty clearly a bad faith edit. (There have been ongoing issues with the dates being edited before, but not like this.) In some cases they are removing existing citations or breaking code on the page. See these diffs as examples: , , , . All but one are from from IPs, but one is from the account User:Mikebreiburg, and in that edit he also seems to cite himself as a source. I am worried about inadvertently falling afoul of 3RR, so have not reverted the last edit, but there have been a bunch of these edits, all today. I have posted warnings to each editor, but as it keeps coming in with different IPs, I'm not sure the warnings do any good. It seems to be a coordinated attempt at vandalism rather than a test. Can someone please look into this? Thanks in advance! -- ManekiNeko | Talk 01:51, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Rinsco (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) - A couple of anonymous users, which seem to be either socks or meatpuppets, have been blanking the voting page in order to register Keep votes. // Andy Saunders 04:57, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
IP addresses
Do not report vandalism here; for that, see Administrator intervention against vandalism. Only report IP addresses that are probably static (they may have a long history of similar vandalism), probably not shared among many users, and persistently vandalise. You can also report possible open proxies here. Remember to sign your posts and place new reports at the top of this section, not at the bottom. Please use this format:

Exact same MO; adds a link to his website to several electronics related articles after having been asked numerous times to discuss links before adding them, being warned several times and even blocked once for spamming. I haven't yet reverted his latest additions because I don't want to get involved in another vandal edit war and risk a 3RR violation on my part (I consider this simple vandalism, but perhaps the next person may not). - 69.22.98.162 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) I've noticed a continuing pattern of POV edits such as this ] being made by user 69.22.198.62, who has been blocked several times previously for edits to Albert Einstein and a continuing edit war on Henri Poincare. Since this seemingly static user (if you check the contribution history) seems to continually edit these articles in a non cooperative way despite previous administrative action, I'm wondering if a block of that IP address's ability to edit at least the Einstein article might be appropriate. - Roitr (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) -- Constant insertion of nonsense and unsourced material at Comparative military ranks of World War II. Has used confirmed sockpuppets of User:Tt1 and User:Alexr23 in addition to numerous anon IP addresses. The user has been blocked at least five times in teh past week for three revert violation and approached by no less than 5 long time Misplaced Pages users to resolve the dispute, but will ignore such requests and call users "wrong", reinserting disputed info. The user typically will add nonsense info to the article, then revert over and over again again changes made by other users. When blocked, will either create a new account or log on as an anon IP address to continue edit warring as normal. Has gone from the level of content dispute to vandalism at this stage. -Husnock 05:52, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- Midgley (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is blanking entire section in Thimerosal, moving it to a POV fork. Possibly also a sockpuppet for Geni. --Leifern 02:50, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- I don't see how moving is "blanking" - and accusing him of being a sockpuppet for Geni is odd, given that Geni has obvious linguistic difficulties, which Midgley has not demonstrated. And he left a link to the material anyway! Surely you could have at least gone for some dispute resolution, right? Michael Ralston 03:36, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- While Midgley may have been a bit bold in refactoring the article, this is a content dispute and not vandalism. Midgley also seems willing to discuss the matter. I would advise Leifern not to call other good-faith editors 'vandals' or throw about accusations of sockpuppetry without good reason. Generally, admins who read this page do actually investigate claims before blocking wildly. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 03:45, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

- *sigh* Please see above. For the record I'm not that user (or any other user) and visiting the page in question will quickly reveal who the real vandal is. I'll leave it at that. --BlueTruth 00:08, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

- All P**fed Up Astersisks are missing in actual name, which violates the no offensive user names policy. He has been asked to change it but has not yet responded. - User:sigheil Contributions consist of adding prominent, repetative notices to point out that Jack Abramoff is Jewish, offensive username, user also posts similar 'observations' from IP:69.239.58.32. - User:Roitr has used several IP addresses and other sockpuppets to vandalize and/or add incoherent, unverified, and senseless "facts" to the following articles: List of countries without an army , List of state leaders , Comparative military ranks of World War II, Air force officer ranks , Naval officer ranks, Ranks and insignia of the Schutzstaffel, Ranks of the People's Liberation Army, Ranks of the People's Liberation Army Navy, Ranks of the People's Liberation Army Air Force, Russian military ranks, Air Force ranks and insignia of the Russian Federation, Army ranks and insignia of the Russian Federation, Naval ranks and insignia of the Russian Federation, and the Military ranks of the Soviet Union.
- Further note: there are several others aside from these, these are the ones vandalized directly by the "Roitr" account - God knows how many it will be if you count the sockpuppet accounts. εγκυκλοπαίδεια* 22:07, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- A (growing) list of his sockpuppets:
- Please block him, he is causing as much trouble as the the Communism vandal and/or Willy on Wheels. εγκυκλοπαίδεια* 22:00, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- But wait There's more! I want you all to know that he has been begged to stop, and in that case I will add no links, as one only has to go to his talk page to see that several users have stated that his edits are inaccurate and harmful to the encyclopedia. He refuses to listen, I beg those who don't confide in my report to look in the diffs. provided by the article links above. Note that these are a morsel of the things he has done here, and those aren't necessarily the worst. He also has used IP's to blank his talk page whenever vandalism reports are posted - I don;t know how right I am by this: but I will take the liberty of simply adding them back everytime, as we need a record of the nonsense he is responsible for. εγκυκλοπαίδεια* 22:24, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- I fully support this. His use of sockpuppets and multiple IDs to circumvent the Three Revert Rule is grounds anough for labeling as a vandal. We are rapidly approaching an RfC on this user, I feel. -Husnock 20:53, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

- Background: deSousa has been POVing articles for months in an attempt to use WP to push the claims of supposed pretenders to the defunct Portuguese throne. Their antics are notorious. BB is just the latest user to have to deal with deSousa's POV crusade on the Toledano article, also Pretender and various royal pages. They are a real problem.
