Michael Le Vell (born Michael Turner on 15 December 1964 in Newton Heath, Manchester) is an English character actor, who since 1983 has played the role of garage mechanic, Kevin Webster, in the soap opera Coronation Street.

He also played a paper boy Neil Grimshaw in 12 episodes of Coronation Street in 1981, two years before he got the role of Kevin Webster.

TV appearances

Besides starring in the long-running soap Coronation Street, Le Vell has also appeared on several gameshow programmes; some include an appearance on Challenge TV's Showbiz Darts in October 2006, where he went on to win the tournament , and he has also featured as a contestant on the second series of Gameshow Marathon on which he was crowned Gameshow Marathon champion on 26 May 2007.

Personal life

Le Vell lives in Hale, Greater Manchester. His wife is actress Janette Beverley who starred in the 1980s comedy 'Sharon and Elsie' alongside Brigit Forsyth. He has 2 children, a daughter and a son.

Le Vell was a director of Ratio Money, which went into administration on the 12 April 2010. This business attempted to exploit a loophole in the Consumer Credit Act to allow people to avoid credit card debts.

He is an avid Manchester United fan and frequents public houses the Griffin and the Stamford Arms, Bowdon.
