Archobarzane

In English sources this is the king known as Ariobarzanes - the article title needs to reflect this and distinguish him from the other kings of that name. I'd also suggest a complete rewrite using reliable (see WP:RS) sources written in English and a bit more modern. You might want to read WP:CITE to see how to do inline citations properly. This kind on sentences is rude and unacceptable. Please avoid it for the next times you are writing a message on my talk page.

Otherwise, the use on En.WP is to put "French Algeria" for people born in French Algeria (before 1962), putting "Algeria" instead of "French Algeria" is an OR since, as internationally recognized, Algeria was part of France, not a "Colony".

I hope that you will understand that disruptive edits and PoV militantism aren't appreciated on WP, and I hope that you will not be blocked again because of that, as it happened on last time with your other account, Omar2788.

what i don't understand is that you are always on my foot steps. For the second time, I ask you to avoid this kind of aggressive messages : WP is a participative Project, you can't deny to anyone the right to participate because of his nationality, race, religion, origin, participation to a project or I don't know what else.

On the other hand, keeping the NPoV policy on people born in French Algeria is undiscutable, putting "Algeria" instead of "French Algeria" is a PoV since, as internationally recognised, the territory was part of France (not a Colony, nor a protectorate or sth like that).

Unfortunately, I have to report that to the Board.

We at Misplaced Pages frown upon that method for various reasons, mainly because it doesn't move the history or move the associated talkpage. While I don't agree with their edits, I do not see where in this content discussion there is any kind of talk going on, on their talk page or on the articles' talk pages, about why their edits are (supposedly) wrong. No discussion from your side, no discussion from their side--I think you know where this might lead to, after the edit war at Template:History of Morocco.   - Omar, we've met before, I believe, and I hope you understood this in the spirit in which it was offered. Yes, perhaps they should initiate discussion, for the two reasons you cite, but they don't. At that moment it becomes incumbent on you (in my opinion) to at least make an effort. If you make that effort, and it's beyond reproach, and they fail to respond and/or modify their behavior, you can claim without doubt that you're dealing with a disruptive/incommunicative/whatever editor. The standard practice is to put the constituent country at the time of birth; however when you look around this is not the case everywhere (e.g: People born in ex-soviet union or People born in Al-Andalus). Ahem. "non human"? The 'proposal' linked to by Dzlinker starts with "stop defending your false useless point of view". That's nonsense, and we don't have to take that seriously. It is also written in a grammatically challenged way, raising issues of English competency--a fair point, given that this is the English wiki. I note also that they do not address the perceived problems with their edits, noted here by a couple of editors--instead they call for a block on Omar. That's ridiculous.
Dzlinker, if you wish to help your case, help it. If you don't see what the problem is (and it seems like you don't--perhaps also a linguistic issue) then it is fair to ask whether you have the competence to operate here. Omar, I'm not sure if that board is the best option since Dzlinker's commentary hardly rises to the level of political discourse; it is little more than knee-jerk responses which can be dealt with by successively warning for what is really vandalism: disruptive and unsourced edits with an ethnic slant. - I am of the opinion that this might not be a only a "user issue". I think Dzlinker can be reasonably convinced; normally constituent country of birth -which still have to be defined according to each case- is indicated, which in this case would be French Algeria. But I can't find a policy or a clear a consensus on this and thus this is not applied with scrutiny and random searches indicate that it boils down to the main contributors preferences. A centralized discussion about country of birth has taken place here back in 2008, result: no body could agree on anything. Also keep in mind that sometimes users come from other wikis which had adopted other standards which of course do not apply here; this should be clarified for users who might not know it. Reversion in Muhammad

I reverted your edit in Muhammad to state that Muhammad was trader, not a leader. If you pay attention to the sentence structure, you'll find that the sentence in question is talking about what Muhammad was just prior to his revelations. Only after that he became a leader -- proof of this is found in this article and other articles about Muhammad. No, it's the first adjective about Muhammed in the article, the description as a trader is not representative of the person, and he was a leader even when a trader. Declined your AIV report

Hey, Dzlinker, just dropping in to let you know that I've declined your report at AIV about User:Omar-toons. His edits are not vandalism per Misplaced Pages's definition of vandalism. They may be disruptive in other ways (haven't looked into it closely enough to see), but they're not vandalism. Some of the diffs you reported are over a year old, so they're way way way too stale for AIV, which is intended for quick responses to immediate, uncontroversial problems. Incivil edit summaries, combative tone, edit-warring, etc. are all disruptive, but they're not vandalism, so they don't belong at AIV. Nice to meet you. I like what you did in the Sephardi Jews infobox, I was surprised though when I didn't see Pedro Nunes there. I know his family was forced to convert but still, ethnically he was Sephardi Jew. Also, Yasmin Levi would be a good entry because she is well known and recorded in Ladino (and there should be at least one women in the image). And in order to add a person to each line we need one more, which can be David D'Or who is an extremely famous singer in Israel (and there should be representatives from Israel. Someone removed this citation from the infobox of the article.

Before your first edit: 0:433 9 March 2013 you can see a citation for "Other languages" - If you follow the citation it takes you to the CIA World Factbook. Select "People ::ALGERIA" and the languages are: "Arabic (official), French (lingua franca), Berber dialects: Kabylie Berber (Tamazight), Chaouia Berber (Tachawit), Mzab Berber, Tuareg Berber (Tamahaq)"

Some other issues: This citation you inserted is just Arabic text, not organized in any meaningful way (title, volume, author, etc.)

Laws were passed to prohibit the use of french within the state facilities, universities, and even in private media.. the french speakers are mostly emigrants french-algerians, arabs who immigrated to france during the past century, so they speak french, it's part of there culture... this book says it all

This is a leading part of a general purpose article, we shoudn't get into langua-franca and other linguistic details, we should just cite the official and national languages, as recognized by the constitution of the country....... details should go to the main article in languages of Algeria; that's it.

The arabic text is quoted from a berberist named Matoub Lounes, it says that algerians who think they're arabs should just go to arabia. It's racist but it illustrates the berberist ideology.

I am aware of the attempts to "Arabize" everything. Based on the literature I read (as of 2008), it was not entirely successful (the Languages of Algeria article covers it) and French is still common in many government departments. One source even said that the Algerian government was backtracking from trying to Arabize everything circa 2008. Regarding "some of them speak french as a second or third language" - Often second and third languages are still prominent in a country (many official languages are spoken as second or third languages!), official or not and they are listed on Misplaced Pages country templates. For instance, in South Sudan the official language is English, but the recognized national languages are also listed. The stuff found in the CIA Factbook is the stuff which can be succinctly used in an infobox as Arabic (official), Berber, and French. Also lingua francas are considered quite important in the context of a country or a region.

Having said that I'm glad that you found that book on Algeria's languages, so I am going to see if I can use it in the Languages of Algeria article

The Arabic text should be formatted in a way outlined at Misplaced Pages:Citing sources, so people can easily find the text and read it. Put the following things in English and the original Arabic: The author (last and first), title, publisher, year and/or date published, Volume and issue Number (if applicable), page number, and quote from the book. It may help to link to a Worldcat entry to make it easier to find the book. If it is on Google Books that's even better as one can link to the page which has the quote.

As the languages section of the article puts it, Algeria is the second Francophone country in the world and in 2008 it can be written and read by one third of all Algerians (and surveys who report similarly large numbers for other foreign languages use the much lower threshold of just 'speaking some' of that language). The book found by Dzlinker could certainly be useful, but it needs to be properly used as a source (taking care to include the page number) to support any statements in mainspace. From a rapid search it seems like the Arabization effort was rolled back in the last few years: "In 1971, officials said, the Arabization project began in earnest, when French was prohibited as a language of education. Nice document you got there, but as i said, i think all of this should go to the appropriate article. I should mention too that Algeria isn't par tof the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, even if it is the second most francophone one. The details are already in the Languages of Algeria article, but the fact that French is a significant language in Algeria needs to be reflected in the main article. To do this, include the French Algérie in the lead. Stick to the CIA World Factbook in terms of what languages are spoken there. I am aware Algeria is not a part of the Francophonie, while neighboring Tunisia and Morocco are. It may have to do with politics (perhaps there are references that delve into this). The UK source you said reflected a 1998 law which seems to have not had the effect intended. As for the Maamri article, thank you for showing me, but I've already used it in the Languages of Algeria article and it also shows that French is still significant in Algerian society. I believe the sources illustrate that there are three languages in Algeria that are important. Some countries have even more official languages than that (South Africa has over 10, and Switzerland has four and the article for Switzerland mentions the name in those four languages) WhisperToMe (talk) 22:23, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

The south african ones are indigenous languages. In Switzerland, there are people who speak only one of the four, French in Algeria is may be used, but still it is secondary, and many are trying to get rid of it. Hi, I noticed that you voted in Misplaced Pages:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2013_March_17, you said "every one of them could be improved". I just wondered how we can improve template:Israfil, as it is composed of only two links, may be used by one page only, uses decorative colors violating Misplaced Pages:Manual_of_Style/Infoboxes#Style.2C_color_and_formatting mentioning infoboxes should not be arbitrarily decorative, has content violating Misplaced Pages:Template_namespace#Usage line 14 that mentions template shouldn't have content. Berber Revolt

Bonjour Dzlinker, j'ai besoin de votre aide sur cet article, car vous maitrisez mieux le Wiki english. Suite à cela :

1) Tlemcen se situe en Algérie pas au Maroc
2) si l'Algérie n’existait pas à cette époque, le Maroc non plus
3) la dynastie rostémide n'a pas régné sur une zone de Tahert mais la majeur partie de l'Algérie hors zones vides (Nord, Centre, en incluant les oasis du nord du Sahara algérien) et les sources ne manquent pas
4) si le fondateur de la dynastie est d'origine persane, la dynastie est surtout ibadite, je connais pas encore un auteur qu'il la qualifie de dynastie persane, alors que le royaume est berbère.

Merci, mais le problème c'est qu'il fait un passage de force contradictoire avec les sources, par exemple, cette source dit: "a dynasty that would reign over a large part of the central Maghreb until the arrival of the Fatimids." alors que lui il écrit "over the area of Tahert". De la majeur partie du Maghreb Central à la zone de Tahert, c'est un grave détournement de source, mais puisque vous, vous maitrisez l'anglais mieux que moi, vous pouvez signaler ce détournement de sources.
