September 2013

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. {{unblock|reason=Hello! I was not aware of this rule, however I can assure you that I am an individual. My name is Andreas Yiangou; I am with no group or organisation. There were no available usernames with my name in it, so i made wwwdotandreasdotcom. I am simply an individual Misplaced Pages user and I think there is a misunderstanding. I'd be happy to change my user name if that is what is required for me to continue editing on Misplaced Pages :) ] (]) 15:32, 7 September 2013 (UTC)}} A few questions:

  1. What username do you want to change to?
  2. Have you checked here to make sure the username has not been taken?
  3. Have you read, and do you understand our conflict of interest policies? Singularity42 (talk) 15:51, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Requested username:

Request reason:

My current username, wwwdotandreasdotcom, goes against the Misplaced Pages policy on usernames, because it makes other users think that I am a group or organisation run account, which is banned on Misplaced Pages. However, I am an individual, and I want to continue editing on Misplaced Pages, so I would like to change my name. Wwwdotandreasdotcom (talk) 16:23, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Misplaced Pages:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Singularity42 (talk) 16:31, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello, when/if you get unblocked (I'll leave that in the capable hands of the admin you're dealing with now), please remember that major geographical features like "South Africa" should not be linked, as you did at Miriam Makeba. Also, ]n is perfectly correct code; there's no need to change it to ]n as you did at Michael Danby. Graham87 16:23, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Michelle Landry

Hello, Wwwdotandreasdotcom. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Michelle Landry, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Michelle Landry to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, Anastasia (talk) 17:04, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Michael Sukkar

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Michael Sukkar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCjahOLKxBc&list=PLIGB0OFZWqIjfTAfWOBWQQEouFMWTnjMv&index=3. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Misplaced Pages to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Username change

Your username has been changed. Please ensure that you are editing from your new account, and not your old account. Singularity42 (talk) 17:38, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Because you are still accidentially editing from the account with the problem username, I have soft-blocked that account. You should now only be editing from this account. Singularity42 (talk) 17:41, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

{{unblock|reason=This is absolutely ridiculous! I did not copy straight off YouTube; I didn't even know that video existed. It is a known fact that has been published on the Liberal Party Website (http://www.liberal.org.au/member/michael-sukkar) that Sukkar attended Deakin and Melbourne, and completed Bachelors in Law and Commerce and Masters in Law. This absurd assumption that I have just copied everything from this video is rude offensive and untrue. Besides, what Sukkar says on the video is completely different to what my page says. Also, he is now a member of parliament so he will need a wikipedia page anyway. I request to be unblocked because I have been blocked for no reason, and i request Mike Sukkar's wikipedia is left alone. ] (]) 17:47, 7 September 2013 (UTC)}}

You are not blocked. Please do not use the {{unblock}} template unless you are requesting to be unblocked. You can comment on a talk page by just editing the page or clicking "New section" at the top of the page. If you are disputing a speedy deletion, please follow the instructions at that article. Australian politicians

Thank you for your good work in creating articles for the new members of Parliament. Just be careful, though, in cutting and pasting - I've had to make a few corrections (like this one) to your categorizations. But don't let that discourage you from keeping on going. StAnselm (talk) 04:22, 8 September 2013 (UTC)

I thought my note was polite and clear, but you're still doing it! Lucy Wicks (Australian politician) does not belong in Category:New South Wales Liberal politicians, but in Category:Victoria (Australia) Liberal politicians - even though she is from NSW. StAnselm (talk) 05:22, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
Actually, the category was correct - you'd made a mistake in the article. Again, be careful and don't rush. StAnselm (talk) 06:40, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
Actually, no - she belongs in Category:Liberal Party of Australia politicians, which is for federal MPs regardless of state. That set of categories is a mess, though, and needs reorganisation. Frickeg (talk) 02:19, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Misplaced Pages page, as you did at Peter Hendy (businessman). Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Misplaced Pages policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. StAnselm (talk) 21:22, 8 September 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Rick Wilson (Australian politician)

The article Rick Wilson (Australian politician) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Misplaced Pages policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Gbawden (talk) 10:48, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Possibly unfree File:The Hon Warren Truss Deputy PM.jpg

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:The Hon Warren Truss Deputy PM.jpg, has been listed at Misplaced Pages:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you object to the listing for any reason. Thank you. Bilby (talk) 05:19, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Sharman Stone.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Sharman Stone.jpg, which you've attributed to Adam Carr. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Misplaced Pages's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:30, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

File:Prime Minister Tony Abbott.jpg

Hi Andreas, what is your source for File:Prime Minister Tony Abbott.jpg? I notice that it's usually small for a user-made photo and lacks the usual metadata. Nick-D (talk) 04:53, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

File:Tony Abbott PM.jpg

Hi Andreas11213. Unfortunately, the image you uploaded of Tony Abbott had the wrong license. Although you were correct that it had been released under a Creative Commons license, the license specified that the images were for non-commercial use only, , which isn't compatible with Misplaced Pages's requirements for free images. Misplaced Pages's licensing requirements are restrictive, but they are necessary if we are to allow full free use of the work. - Bilby (talk) 12:35, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kevin Rudd 2007.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Kevin Rudd 2007.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Uploading images you've taken from the internet under blatantly false claims of them being your own work as you did here is a really bad idea, which will lead to your account being blocked from editing. Misplaced Pages takes copyright matters very seriously, and this kind of thing is a red line issue. You're doing great work with your editing, but you will be blocked if this happens again. If you have any questions about copyright issues I'd be happy to answer them if you place them on my talk page, or alternately you can seek advice at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Several relevant help pages are also listed at Misplaced Pages:Copyright assistance. Nick-D (talk) 23:27, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
