Urgent assistance requested re page National Indian Students Union UK
Hi Oswah,
I write to request your assistance with the page National Indian Students Union UK.
It appears that despite the page being protected for further edits, the user rd897 has modified content recently, I wonder why this has been allowed as noone else is able to edit the page. Given rd897 is the one who requested deletion in the first place, it seems incorrect to allow them to be the only person able to make edits.
Secondly, I do not want to indulge in edit wars, so wondering if you can help or help advise the right way of going about this. The user rd897 seems to have some sort of personal problem against the said organisation, which as you are aware has not spared them sharing private details of individuals on wikipedia, causing potential harm to them (specifically, user Mohanish Borana and Sanam Arora). This is made all the more concerning by the fact that they are using wikipedia to delete only two pages - National Indian Students Union UK and Sanam Arora, and that is their only contribution to Misplaced Pages. Should they be allowed to use a platform such as Misplaced Pages to take out what seems are personal issues?
Finally, regarding the actual notability of the organisation, please note the below:
1. There are 5 patrons of this organisation, including a former United Nations Secretary General (Dr Shashi Tharoor), a member of UK parliament (Rt Hon Virendra Sharma MP), Former Deputy High Commissioner of India to UK (Dr Virander Paul) and an Indian Education Minister (Mr Ram Bilas Sharma). These senior figures have joined the organisation to support its good work and further its vision.
2. There are multiple high profile supporters of this organisation, including its Honorary Fellows - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (international peace-maker and spiritual guru), Dr SY Quraishi (former Chief Election Commissioner of India), Mr Javed Akhtar (Member of Parliament, India and Indian cinema legendary figure) and Mrs Shabana Azmi (Social activist and Indian cinema legendary figure).
3. This organisation is the only such organisation which is repeatedly engaged in advisory services by the Indian Government on matters relating to young Indian students and youth in the UK. All of this is made evident by various links to Indian government owned websites such as https://pbdindia.gov.in/session-report-5 - you will note that NISAU's president is the only UK student/alumni representative.
4. This organisation has been engaged by the Mayor of London to conduct exclusive research into experiences of Indian students in the UK.
5. This organisation to show some examples, has been called upon by: - UK Parliament's All Party Parliamentary Groups (see http://www.appgmigration.org.uk/sites/default/files/APPG_PSW_Inquiry_Report-FINAL.pdf) - Westminster Policymaking forums (see http://www.westminsterforumprojects.co.uk/forums/slides/Sanam_Arora_International_Students.pdf) - Scottish Government (see http://news.gov.scot/news/scotlands-colleges-back-return-of-post-study-work-visa) - Indian High Commission in UK (see https://www.hcilondon.in/gallery.php?album=1794)
6. This organisation is featured in top Indian and UK newspapers for its work. Some recent examples include: - http://indianexpress.com/article/india/uk-must-remove-obstacles-faced-by-indian-students-shashi-tharoor/ - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/britain-indian-students-easier-uk-post-brexit-india-visa-relations-shashi-tharoor-kerala-mp-diplomat-a7623551.html - http://www.hindustantimes.com/education/visa-policies-for-indians-in-the-uk-must-focus-on-post-study-work-opportunities/story-MTGpTgoYvgSE8mTeBORoXJ.html
7. The President of the organisation was recently awarded the India UK thought leadership award for her work with the organisation. Please note that a fellow recipient of the same award was the Deputy Mayor of London. See some coverage by the Times: - https://www.timeshighereducation.com/news/uk-india-relationship-at-risk-as-student-numbers-slide - https://www.timeshighereducation.com/opinion/anglo-indian-ties-strained-student-visa-policy
I hope the few points above are enough to prove the claims made by user rd897 that accompany their deletion request, as baseless:
" The article is regarding an organization which is not really notable, and the article is biased " - a. User Mohanish explained (that rd897 later deleted), the presence of the organisation in more than 25 universities covering all 4 countries of the United Kingdom. In fact, the Northern Ireland wing of the organisation was launched by the Mayor of Belfast and the British Council. See - https://asianlite.com/news/uk-news/nisu-floats-n-ireland-chapter/
b. Notability is very explicit given the points above and, note most of these are stated on the wikipedia page for the organisation anyway
This is a promo just written by the said organization and their representatives in a promotional way to big their own causes. Lack of notability for a small student group
a. This seems like a personal attack on the representatives of the organisation. Misplaced Pages should not allow its wonderful platform to be used to propagate such negativity
b. I don't agree that the article is written like a promo, but if rd897 feels that way, their view was respected and taking that into account user mohanish modified the text accordingly. rd897 reversed these changes instead of acknowledging that their views had been respected. Also note they didn't help in the first place by editing the page such that their views were taken into account. They simply want it deleted and are not helping either the cause of the organisation nor that of Misplaced Pages
c. A "small student group" is just factually incorrect. Small groups don't have presence in 5 countries - i.e. all 4 of the UK, and India. nor are they called upon by governments and supported by such senior figures. Even if the organisation was indeed "small", there is no reason for the great work being done by the organisation to not be shared with current, past and future Indian students who greatly appreciate all the work the organisation does to help and represent them. Note this is all done for free (as noted on the NISAU website). Not sure what "own causes" rd897 seems to be alluding to.
Oshwah, your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you want to discuss anything in more detail.
HISTBP1234 (A concerned Indian, and lover of Misplaced Pages) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Histbp1234 (talk • contribs) 15:11, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Histbp1234, and thank you for leaving me a message with your questions. I apologize for the delay responding to you; life has been busy lately. It's perfectly acceptable for someone to edit an article that is protected if their account allows them to do so (so long as it's not done against consensus, discussion, or in order to edit war). It's also acceptable for someone to nominate an article for deletion but continue to edit the article itself and try to expand or improve upon it despite having done so. While there's certainly no harm or policy against doing this at all, it does give me concerns when I see that behavior. It tells me that there's a possibility that the editor isn't familiar with the AFD process, how to properly determine if an article should or shouldn't be nominated, and/or how to properly research and determine what the article's outcome should be (deleted vs kept).
- Articles are typically nominated for deletion because the subject does not meet Misplaced Pages's notability guidelines. Many people don't realize (or tend to forget) two important things: Notability is not determined by article content, and notability is based on the existence of suitable sources. This means that notability is properly determined by performing outside research for references and reliable sources, and making that determination based on whether or not enough reliable sources exist. Simply looking at what's referenced or written in the article itself is not how notability is properly determined. If the article subject isn't notable, expanding the article or improving its content will do nothing to change this. So when I see that someone nominated an article for deletion and then spent time trying to expand and improve the article after doing so, it tells me that the nominator may not fully understand the process yet.
- I see that you have many references listed in your message here, which is a great thing! I highly recommend that you take time to read Misplaced Pages's guidelines regarding the notability of organizations and determine if the article subject meets the guidelines or not. You're welcome to add your thoughts and determination to the deletion discussion. If you have any questions regarding the policies and guidelines that I've explained and linked you to above, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again for the message, and I wish you good luck! :-D ~Oshwah~ 22:57, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Meaning of actor como simplismo
An actor is one who plays one or several characters, however, as simplicity an actor is the beautiful person who plays impotant characters and lives their physical beauty. The word "Simplism" means that a word has a meaning that does not appear in the dictionary but is used by people with that same meaning, in my edition I said that the word actor "Like simplism" means what I said earlier. For example: "He is a very handsome guy, he has an actor face", "He is a very beautiful person, obviously he works as an actor and model." "Simplistically speaking, the person named actor or actress is someone beautiful who plays important characters and lives off his / her physical beauty."

Only reason why I made that edit was that it was inconsistent with John Cena's page. His says that it was done by "John Cena and Tha Trademarc". - (talk page watcher) I saw the ANI thread and commented there too. I've been dealing with Fangusu for a couple years now, since the DJ Autagirl era and long before I was otherwise involved in SPI, but since I picked up the mop she leaves me alone. That's one of her patterns: she begs to be unblocked but never asks administrators. My opinion with regard to the USC ranges is that there are enough known long term abusers operating there that blocking the whole thing permanently would be a net positive for the project. You've got Fangusu, the end date change vandal (who I'm still convinced is a separate user), and at least one other troll who's been much more abusive and aggressive who I can't name at the moment, and all of them have been at it for years. I've written to the university myself a couple times but never received any response at all, and of course the Foundation doesn't care to intervene in cases like these. I don't know about the others but Fangusu at least has figured out how to force an IP reset, so if you block one of her IPs she's back on another one reverting her edits within minutes. Of course current policy doesn't support permanent IP range blocks, but I haven't hesitated to drop a large range block when one of the USC vandals shows up. I've done a /18 (16k users) up to a month, and /16 (64k users) for several days. T-Mobile is a different thing, and I'm not sure about IPv6 ranges. Ivanvector (/Edits) 13:09, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User talk:Digiverse Technologies
A tag has been placed on your user page, User talk:Digiverse Technologies, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Misplaced Pages to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Cahk (talk) 07:55, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Population history of Egypt
Thanks. That's an IP hopper and I've asked at RPP for protection. There's also a discussion on the talk page. He's actually removing text that's in the source which he clearly hasn't checked, although that section definitely needs a rewrite. Doug Weller talk 08:56, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Doug Weller! It's good to talk to you again! Oh yeah... there's no question that the two IPs were the same person... none at all. These two edits I found (1, 2) were what did it for me. And since the user continued edit warring on Horn of Africa with one of the IPs despite being warned, I just blocked both IPs knowing that they both were being used by the same person. I thought that this was a better way of handling the issue as opposed to protecting the article... especially if the disruption was just by one person and with clear behavioral evidence like that... :-). If you see any more IPs pop back up on any of those pages, let me know and I'll be happy to take care of it. Until we meet again ;-) -- ~Oshwah~ 09:06, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Melanie Chandra Birth Year
Hello- If I could seek your advice on the subject, I would greatly appreciate. There has been additional edits to this subject's birth year, and in this last edit, it looks both sources are still unreliable.
This first source cited "Minority Report" has a second article from the same publication "Melanie Chandra, 32" that directly conflicts. The second source cited has dates within the article that do not add up: 2003 HS graduate (birth year 1985) and age 29 in Jan 2016 (birth year 1984). This as been an ongoing theme
Since these "current" publications and others cited, to support a 1986 birth year, have all been inconsistent from each other (by uncorroborated dates/numbers) or unreliably sourced (publications that allow self-submittal), I go back and cite older sources from 2000 (sophomore @ 16) and 2001 (junior @17), to weed out and prevent any erroneous "retelling" or editorial revisions.
However, I then find my references tagged for somehow being "outdated". I am not clear as to how a true telling of a birthdate can be outdated.
Short of citing public records, I'm not certain how to come about this in the realm of Misplaced Pages.
Thanks~ BillieReed (talk) 10:17, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi BillieReed! Thanks for leaving me a message and for asking for help! I'll be more than happy to take a look and let you know what should be done. I agree that neither of the two sources that were provided state the article subject's birthdate (just her age). However, it also appears that your references don't do so either, and that the best we can do is narrow down an approximate range using different sources that are from progressively different publish dates (many of which are a few years old). As right now, there doesn't appear to be any reliable sources provided by anybody that specify the subject's date of birth. Because of this, I went and removed it from the article. It's important to keep Misplaced Pages's policies regarding biographies of living people in mind. We must reference reliable sources with content that we add to these kinds of articles -- especially if the content is potentially negative or contentious. I think this is the best solution for now; until a reliable source can be found and agreed upon in a talk page discussion, a birthdate should not be present. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need more help. I'll be happy to assist! Thanks again for the message, and I wish you happy editing! :-) ~Oshwah~ 10:34, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Edits to Scality Page -- How do I "overcome" the banner?

If you feel that the article is improved and no longer needs the notice at the top, have another editor review the article and remove it if he/she agrees. The Shot
Good afternoon,
I would like to discuss the definition of Wiki article "The Shot" as it is currently described on Misplaced Pages, against the now verified and accepted definition which supersedes it as of June 19th, 2016.
Until that date, it was accepted that "The Shot" was in fact the game and playoff series winning shot Michael Jordan took and hit in 1989 to lead his Chicago Bulls over the favored Cleveland Cavaliers. For all the following reasons: Jordan's climb to superstardom, the Chicago Bulls run of championships in the 1990s, and the fact it was over the then-favored Cavs - the sports world considered this the most monumental game winning shot in NBA history.
On June 19th, 2016, the definition of "The Shot" changed forever. That's not my opinion, that's a fact as accepted by sports analysts at every level. That night, Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers hit a 3 point shot to break an 89-89 tie in game 7 of the NBA Finals. This was in Oracle Arena against the 73-9 overwhelmingly favored Golden State Warriors. It was after they had held a 3-1 series lead which no team in NBA history had ever come back from. And it was the first major league championship for the city of Cleveland since the Browns won the NFL Championship in 1964.
The evidence to support this is in this article from the Wall Street Journal:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-biggest-shot-in-nba-history-1482235610
I am requesting a serious discussion be brought to the people who are in charge of editing and maintaining Misplaced Pages, that the old definition of "The Shot" be permanently replaced with this completely new one. It has changed. Jordan's shot was nowhere near as important historically or within the auspices of the games themselves. His shot was only to win the first round of the playoffs, in which the Bulls would eventually lose to Detroit and not even make the NBA Finals that year. Kyrie Irving's shot won the championship.
As someone who has followed the NBA for 30 years and have amassed a collection of statistical and historical books on the league over the years I am willing to help in these discussions wherever possible. The definition has changed, and it must be reflected in Misplaced Pages.
Thank you, and I look forward to discussing this topic.

- @Fastball77: Copying what I said above: "You cannot just entire replace existing content with content about another event. The existing content covers a notable event and what you're trying to do is essentially an article deletion without going through the proper process. What you can do is propose the existing article be expanded or create a new article if there are enough sources." You'll need more than one source. --NeilN 19:06, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
The Shot
I don't think you understand.
This is not about editing Michael Jordan's shot. The meaning of "The Shot" has been completely redefined. There is no addendum, no sub-notation, no reference between the two.
The entire existing article must be completely removed, and replaced with the new definition of Kyrie Irving's shot. I wish you would take the time to understand the importance of this. This is factual history, not something anyone is making up. That's not debatable.

History has been re-written. This is not just a "The Shot part II". This is THE SHOT.

- @Fastball77: Pretty sure you don't understand this is an encyclopedia, not a sports almanac. We don't delete history. If, "Obamacare" is replaced by "Trumpcare" in the future, we're not wiping out the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. You are welcome to create a new article. Each article title will probably be disambiguated using the player's name. --NeilN 20:57, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- P.S. You might want to have a look at The Shot (disambiguation) to see how many "The Shots" there are. --NeilN 21:02, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Fastball77 - Your response above contradicts the core principles and fundamentals in which this project exists on. Your desire to delete the article content and replace it with a redefinition of the term that you feel that it should be -- is not how an encyclopedia is built, and not how we share free and open knowledge with anybody and everybody (the very reason we're all here in the first place). NeilN has been extremely patient and has repeatedly attempted to explain to you that what you're doing is disruptive, and what you need to do in order to contribute positively to the project. The fact that you have dismissed his time and his effort trying to assist you, continued to state that the article must be replaced with your version of its definition, and have stated that it's "not debatable" or that you are unwilling to listen to people who are trying to assist you and will continue this disruption -- shows me that you are not here to build and encyclopedia.
- If you believe that a similar article can be written that follows Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines, I welcome you to create one and highly recommend that you do so by using the Articles For Creation page. That guided creation page is extremely helpful, and is where you need to go. This is your final warning regarding your edits and your behavior. If you remove content from the article and continue editing the article in the manner that you have been, you will be blocked from editing without further warning or notice. NeilN can vouch for me when I say this: I really really dislike threatening to block editors like this. But your responses and the viewpoints and intentions that you've made clear here have left me absolutely no choice. I am absolutely 100% willing to help you (as is NeilN, I'm sure) if you need it, but your disruption stops here. Please please take the advice that NeilN and I have given you, and work with us to build this project. I really don't want to have to be the bad guy... can you take our advice and use the tools and resources we've given you? How can we help you to do this? ~Oshwah~ 23:34, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- So here's how it will probably work, Fastball77: If you want, you'll create an article called The Shot (Kyrie Irving). The current article at The Shot will be moved to The Shot (Michael Jordan). The Shot (disambiguation) will be renamed simply to The Shot and both articles will be listed there. --NeilN 23:49, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- NeilN is correct. ~Oshwah~ 23:51, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- And if you want extra credit, you can add how sources compare the two shots to both articles. That would be neat. --NeilN 00:34, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- NeilN is correct. ~Oshwah~ 23:51, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Ilovetopaint.
I'm sorry but I can not be respectful to someone who always undoes my edits as the user User talk: Ilovetopaint. I always try to add a genre to a song or album but he is always undoing my editions, here are some examples Interstellar Overdrive Avant-pop without explaining the reason why it does. Always insists that the source is not reliable or unacceptable, but you can see the source if it is reliable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.11.188.51 (talk) 21:28, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Hi 180.11.188.51. Using multiple accounts is only allowed under specific conditions as explained in WP:MULTIPLE. Engaging is sock puppetry is clearly not one of these, so I strongly suggest you do not what your saying you will do at User talk:Ilovetopaint#Ilovetopaint. since such a thing will just lead to all the accounts you create being indefinitely blocked as sock puppets. Your best chance for resolving this is to follow Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution and engage in discussion on the talk pages of the articles in question to see if you can establish a consensus for the changes you want to make. I suggest you read through Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Albums/Album article style guide as well as Misplaced Pages:Genre warrior for reference to better familiarize yourself with how Misplaced Pages deals with genre related issues. Once again, your best chance at resolving this is through discussion based upon relevant policies and guidelines and not by trying to force through the changes using multiple accounts. The former may help you achieve your desired goal, while the latter will only lead to your account being blocked. Take a look at Category:Misplaced Pages sockpuppets to see some others who have tried to use sock puppetry to edit. More and more accounts are added to this list daily, so it is something Misplaced Pages takes quite seriously. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:12, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- I do not think it is possible to establish a consensus with the user. User talk: Ilovetopaint He is always attentive to my issues and undoes them without giving a reason, so I told him that I have more than ten accounts created for four days to start editing. That user is too unfair. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.7.120.95 (talk) 08:35, 22 March 2017 (UTC+9)
- Hi 179.7.120.95. Assuming that you are also 180.11.188.51, a consensus does not mean that everyone involved in the discussion agrees; it means that the majority of those involved agree. You should start a discussion on the relevant talk pages and explain your reasons for wanting to make these changes. You should base your reasons on relevant policies and guidelines and explain how the changes you want to make comply with them. You should stick to discussing the changes you want to make, and avoid commenting on other editors as much as possible. Once you've started the discussion, you need to be patient and see what other editors have to say. If your reasons are strongly based upon policies and guidelines, the other editors participating in the discussion will likely support you and the changes you want to make; if your reasons are simply based upon you own personal opinions, etc., then other editors are going to be less inclined to make such a change. It makes no difference how many accounts you create in how many days because Misplaced Pages does not allow sock puppetry under any circumstances. Once again, if you try to use multiple accounts to force through the changes you wish to make, they will all be eventually blocked by an administrator and you will find yourself unable to edit Misplaced Pages at all. All the articles where this is an issue will be added to someone's watchlist and monitored for suspicious editing. Any indication of sock puppetry will be quickly noticed and the accounts in question will almost surely end up being blocked by an administrator. You best chance for resolving this is, once again, to follow Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution and try and convince others that your reasons for wanting to make the change are correct. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:52, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

- Consensus is not established with just a majority decision (unanimous decisions, while not the definition of consensus, will almost always result in consensus... because everyone obviously agrees). Consensus takes into account a few things. First and foremost, it takes into account not the number of people who agree (although it is a factor that is used), but the evidence and arguments presented by those in the discussion. 10 votes for "Delete" (for example) that make poor, bad, or incomplete arguments to support their thinking will not overrule the one vote for "Keep" that makes a strong, logical, in-depth, and correct argument to support the user's view.
- Consensus is established when there exists enough strong arguments in favor of one decision that also addresses or takes into account the concerns or arguments raised in opposition. This is important to understand, and it's something that many editors don't.
- If anyone has any questions about consensus and how its determined, please feel free to ask them. I'll be happy to help with any confusion. :-) ~Oshwah~ 05:51, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Why User:Charliesam123 really is a vandal
Hello Oshwah -- You recently declined to block this user, noting that the references check out. Sorry, I should have been clearer. The reference links do exist and they even pertain to the topic of the vandalized article (e.g Owen Wilson). But if you read or do a search within the referenced site, you won't find the phoney-baloney names or goofy facts that Charliesam123 tried to add to the WP article. This is rather shrewd vandalism. Respectfully -- WikiPedant (talk) 04:45, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi WikiPedant! Thanks for leaving me a message! Ah okay, that helps. I thought that was what you meant -- that the reference URLs the user were providing were BS. Respected sir, I want to clarify why I removed certain paragraphs from the article.I personally know members of the mentioned community and confidently say, that certain para were written with malicious intent. The references given are taken out of context from what the author(s) intended.Few things were written which were not related to the respective headings although factually correct if seen standalone. No other intention can be seen in doing such "errors" other than portraying the community in bad light. Pyrrhic War Reversion
Hi. You reverted my edits without saying why, other than you felt they were non-neutral in some way. Could you be more specific, please? I trimmed length, which isn't a matter of neutrality. The lead as it stands is godawful enormous; it practically refights the whole war. Palindromedairy (talk) 00:32, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Palindromedairy! Thank you for leaving me a message with your questions. The concern I saw was from this edit where you described Pyrrhus as "A skilled commander, with a strong army fortified by war elephants", and the term "Pyrrhic victory" as "so painful to the victor that it amounts to a hollow victory or even a long-term defeat". This doesn't appear to follow Misplaced Pages's policy on maintaining a neutral point of view. These were my concerns and why I reverted your edit. Please let me know if you have any more questions. I'll be happy to answer them and assist you. ~Oshwah~ 00:41, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- I do not understand your concerns. Pyrrhus was and is considered to be a skilled commander: he won several battles against Rome after all, and not accidentally. This is no more POV than saying any commander was skilled: the proof is in the pudding (I would write the same for Hannibal or Philip V). The specific mention of war elephants is because they are commonly held to be a major factor in his early victories, and Rome's eventual ability to develop tactics to defeat them helped them win the final battle of the war: worth a mention even in a summational lead. As for your objection to the Pyrrhic victory definition, I'm doubly confused, because that's what a Pyrrhic victory literally is. This is how a state wins most of the battles and loses the war.
- If you have no other issues, I'd like to restore my edits. Palindromedairy (talk) 00:52, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

About DD Audio
I have deleted some line from DD Audio article because I have added another article line in this article by mistake. That's why I remove these lines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogerhunt013 (talk • contribs) 21:20, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
Paragraph antecedent
Every one of the major features with its own heading needs to be mentioned at least once by name within the subsection so that it would make sense if excerpted to another place, which is very, very likely with an open-source resource like Misplaced Pages, which is freely licenced, not copyrighted, and hence very subject to sharing. Also (IMO) it reads more like a traditionally-published encyclopaedia (ref. Britannica ). Please take this into consideration. DS logging of ARBPIA3 articles
We need to log 500/30 being put on ARBPIA3 articles? Cause I don't think most (read: no) admins do that. --NeilN 01:48, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- NeilN - You do if the protection reason is Arbitration enforcement and if it's in response to the article being under discretionary sanctions (which is obviously what the protection was for). I was always told from the beginning to log them, so I do. *shrugs* ~Oshwah~ 01:53, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Well something is broken because if you look at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration_Committee/Discretionary_sanctions/Log/2016#Palestine-Israel_articles, out of hundreds of articles protected last year only a handful are listed. --NeilN 01:57, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

- NeilN - Santa keeps good page logs, so I'm hoping to cash in hard at the end of the year ;-) ~Oshwah~ 02:13, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- It seems harmless to keep putting these 500/30 protections in the DSLOG, but I'm not distressed if the admin doesn't do it. So long as the 500/30 is recorded as being imposed per the Arbcom case in the article's own protection log. For example with "WP:ARBPIA3#500/30" in the edit summary. In my opinion it is more important to record all sanctions of individual editors in the DSLOG, because people delete sanction notices from their own talk pages all the time. While the article never forgets who protected it and why. EdJohnston (talk) 16:15, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

terry jordan bychkov----
I deleted the content on the Terry Jordan-Bychkov page because it is absolutely not encyclopedia-worthy. Other than the fact that the person featured in the Misplaced Pages entry is completely un-noteworthy, the content is written as if a family member were writing a life history rather than an encyclopedia article. The only relevant parts were his occupation, date of birth and death, and the list of publications; all of which were left in place. Please leave the changes I made, as all material deleted was nothing more than fluff. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:E943:DF00:E2F8:47FF:FE30:7A8 (talk) 02:30, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

- (talk page watcher) Hi 2605:6000:E943:DF00:E2F8:47FF:FE30:7A8. Generally, the unexplained blanking of significant sections of articles is going to result in a revert, either by another editor or by a bot. This is especially true when the account doing the removing is new and shows up out of the blue. When making such a change to an article, it does help to leave a clear edit sum so that others understand why the change is made, and also possibly a article talk page post to provide a more detailed explanation. A major change sometimes requires us as editors to be a little more cautious than bold. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:02, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Israel/Palestine editors
Hi -- you seem active in admin work in this area. How does a new editor get the information they need about the 30/500 restriction for editing in this area? The editor I'm concerned about is 238-Gdn, especially his editing in Yitzchak Ginsburgh#Controversy, e.g. this and this. Thanks... Nomoskedasticity (talk) 15:44, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Nomoskedasticity! 30/500 protection restricts an article or page from being edited, created, or moved by accounts that are less than 30 days old, or have fewer than 500 edits. More information on the protection itself can be found here. If you're looking for a way to see if an article is protected or not and what protection level its set to, simply navigate to the article and click on "Page information" (located on the left navigation, under the "Tools" section). To find the reason behind why a specific page was protected, just navigate to the article, click on the History tab, and then click on "view logs for this page". A list of log entries showing different administrative and other logs will be listed there. Please let me know if you have any more questions. I'll be happy to answer them. Thanks again for leaving me a message with your questions. ~Oshwah~ 23:31, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I understand that the 30/500 protection is sometimes implemented on a page, so that new editors cannot edit. But not all pages relevant to the I/P conflict are set up that way. Even when they are not, my reading of the ARBPIA3 ruling is that editors not meeting the 30/500 rule may not edit in that area. Is there are process for formal notification (e.g. by an admin) in that respect? Wouldn't this be required as a step prior to an arbitration enforcement action? (Or is it enough for a regular editor to do it, as in ?) Apologies for all the questions -- but I've seen some admins at arbitration enforcement be quite rigid about procedural aspects such as this. PROMESA
Hello! You seem to have wrongfully reverted some edits I made on the PROMESA page. The Criticism section was, for some reason, inside the Composition table, which listed the members of the board. That is, obviously, wrong, so I decided to move it to its rightful place. However, you reverted that edit, and you put the Criticism section back in the table! --Anonymoususername (talk) 23:15, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

However, I noticed that an IP made a change to a table just today; I reverted the article back to the revision it was at before today's edits -- does this resolve the issue you noticed? ~Oshwah~ 23:35, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

question
Hi Oshwah, would you be so kind as to look over this RfC here? This is based on recent discussion threads, suggestions made by other editors in those threads, including me, and choices based on those suggestions. An editor is suggesting that 'abort' votes, which I do not see in policy on RfCs, will shut it down with admin help. I think it is well thought out, considers the recent discussions and attempts to find consensus and offers the choices editors offered. I appreciate it, especially as I don't think you've ever been over to that page to edit. SW3 5DL (talk) 03:11, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- I forgot to ask, could these 'aborts' be moved to the discussion section? If they don't like the choices, they can make suggestions in the discussion section, but I don't see where 'abort' should be allowed in the survey section, but I'm not an expert. That's why I've come over here. Thanks. SW3 5DL (talk) 03:21, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
See also this RfC on the same page, closed yesterday by NeilN because of six experienced editors !voting to abort it. Note that he said, "Closed due to a strong sense among editors...", rather than stating his own opinion. ―Mandruss ☎ 03:26, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- And the RfC I've brought here to Oshwah, is not that one. Thanks. SW3 5DL (talk) 03:30, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- You came here to ask Oshwah if abort votes are legitimate. But NeilN clearly answered that question yesterday. You seem to think he closed it not because of the abort votes but because he made the judgment himself that it was "confusing, overlapping, and/or premature". That is clearly not the case. ―Mandruss ☎ 03:35, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
- I came here to ask him to look things over, and also asked about the abort votes. You've said your peace, you commented extensively in the discussion section, and now here, and it's apparent you want it shut down. I came here for help. Let's leave it. Constant commenting seems like battle. Not to mention, you have been against any changes, and I also addressed that in the RfC. Everybody has a choice. So your rationale makes no sense to me. That's all I have to say. Night. SW3 5DL (talk) 03:39, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

- Hi VideoGameFan15! Thanks for leaving me a message with your question! See this page. It shows you how to cite reference in-line, as well as how to make sure they're listed on the bottom. If you still have questions after reading that page, please let me know and I'll be happy to help you further. Happy editing! :-) ~Oshwah~ 00:40, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Block notice (JOKE)
You have been blocked from editing for a period of OVER 9000 YEARS for being so sarcastic, way too girly and crashed on Capital Beltway on Washington DC. Oh F****ing stop on this s***** interstate!! it's funny LOL. :D Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful driving. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may get off the highway by first reading the guide to being a girl driving on I-44, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page:Hey! I'm on Australia, get me back on Northern Virginia by plane and get me in I-66! Perhaps I'm a a sock of Supreme Genghis Khan and unblock me lol :D
(Note: Even you're male, this is not intended to offend you and you're fine.) KGirlTrucker81 02:09, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

This is your only warning; if you remove or blank page contents or templates from Misplaced Pages again, as you did at User talk:Samwalton9, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Sam Walton (talk) 11:24, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 second for continued removal of material. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page:{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Pending changes reviewer
Hi, Oshwah! Could you please remove pending changes reviewer right from me? I feel like I do not need it. Cheers, FriyMan 12:34, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- FriyMan - Because you asked on the 1st of April, can you confirm that you'd like this user right removed? If so, I'd be happy to do so. Cheers - ~Oshwah~ 00:36, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- All right, I actually want this right removed. Cheers, FriyMan 03:46, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Christina Slade
Hi
I did edit this page to say that Christina Slade stepped down at the end of March - that edit is still there? I made a mess of the succession box, though. My apologies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artsadvocate (talk • contribs) 17:53, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Unreasonably Deleted Article
There obviously isn't reason for you to delete the article Matt Works, because it's all true. User talk:M briglia05 20:23, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Report Image?
User uploaded this image claiming it's their own work. How do you report that? Chris "WarMachineWildThing" 08:32, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi WarMachineWildThing! It looks like the proper place to list the image is at Misplaced Pages:Copyright Problems. Let me know if you have any more questions. Sorry for the late reply, by the way. Been on vacation ;-) ~Oshwah~ 00:41, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Laurie Buchanan
Hey fella,
I've created an article but moved it to a user-redirect instead of submitting it to the main Misplaced Pages - can you help me undo whatever i've done, I can't seem to revert the action. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JermainRobson (talk • contribs) 18:42, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
- JermainRobson - It looks like this page has been fixed and is now at Laurie Buchanan - Do you still need assistance? ~Oshwah~ 00:42, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
