Thanks

Thanks for the welcome. It provided some links to a lot of useful info that I need to read over. Is there no bot that sends out a welcome like this automatically to all new user that have been posting or editing? If not I think there should be because this was useful. I will look into it. Talk me back if anyone has more info about it. Thanks. 23:00, 5 October 2006 (UTC)User:Digital20

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Misplaced Pages there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
  3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
  4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
  5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hey, thanks for the welcome! I will be sure to check out each and everyone of these suggestions!

Recent edit

I recently (9-21-06) noted a misspelling of one word; I changed that, and the change appeared instantly. I hope I did everything correctly; this is my first time to enter an item (minor as it is), and have not read all the instructions for entering items yet. Please let me know if I did anything wrong. Thanks. heathbug.

Thanks for the note

Hello,

Thanks for the note. I hope to be a long term contributor.

I was afraid when I first saw the notice that 'no good deed goes unpunished'. I hope I've stayed within the style guide.

But thanks for the extra links there. I was having a hard time trying to find some details, and there were a few things there that I was unware of.

Do people really sign articles? I don't think I've seen that before.

Cheers,

Ryan

thank you

re: Phantom highlights

Jack, you have a PM at the THF!

Hello back. Thanks for the welcome. I have some questions...

First up: I've read repeatedly about signing your name at the end with the four tildes. Where exactly am I supposed to put this? At the end of the Wiki article? Or in the summary box below? Please specify.

Q2: Today I created my first new page - Chocolate mint. If you haven't looked already, two of the sub-headings are in quotes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't putting words in quotes actually make them show up on the final/saved page in italics (as I intended) ??

Q3: This comes later, but how can I append a stub to my page? Specifically, there's a stub about Andes Chocolate Mints that (I think) would fit well on my page. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I have to figure out how to make my pages better... DOSbox-gamer 20:30, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Algae/seaweeds

How do I ask advice as to whether "Algae" and "Seaweeds" should be "united", some of the info' may be duplicated. Or what is best. How & to whome do I ask please? Osborne

sup, uhh yeah just doing my part contributing to the community by adding definitions in the red words of articles.. never know when someone is in need of that word.

Thanks!

Hello! Thanks for your kind welcome! I was referred here by a friend, who has said that this is a really good project to get some writing done for! Just reading the FAQ sections on how to do things! Not really sure what to do though, I mean, can I just edit and write any article? Jimjamjim 21:47, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

the snazzy version of the welcome template

Hi,

I noticed that the welcome template you recently added to a new contributor's talk page was snazzy. I hadn't seen that one before... which one is it? Thanks! --Ling.Nut 04:08, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks !

I'm not an absolute newbee, I'm from the French Misplaced Pages, but thanks ! Wowulu 19:49, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks much! Can you point out specifically where I screwed up? I'm not sure I follow the point of this message, unless I made a HUGE error somewhere! :-)

thank you

A pleasant surprise

At first, your message gave me quite a scare. I thought I'd upset an admin. :D

Your welcome note turned out to be a nice surprise when I found out. Thanks for the welcome! I wish you luck in all of your endeavors on Misplaced Pages and elsewhere!

Hi, Trevor Me, Welcome to Misplaced Pages!

Thank you Kf4bdy. Good on you Misplaced Pages.

Never said thanks for the welcome...

...but this is much due to my fallen expectations. I've expected the welcome (by someone) much sooner than I've got it. :/ Anyway, YOU were the one who welcomed me so as we say in our country when someone welcomes you: "Bolje vas našli" (lit. betterfound). Biblbroks 16:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Welcome Message

Hey, Thanks for the message. Really appreciate some friendliness around here, its all to common to find the elitist attitude on these type of projects.

Thanks for helping, Xiphos 03:08, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the message

Thank you for taking the time to contact me as I am a new user. Yes, I am confused, but so far I'm confused about the loading up a file. The page I was trying to load up has about 1200 words. When I load it, just the first paragraph show and the reset of the verbiage is in a long striaght line that takes my screen to the twilight zone. what did I do wrong? Marian.

Dan the Megalomaniac thanks ye.

Thanks for the kind welcome. I actually did some minor edits as a "visitor" and an update on the M. Hillegas article. My twin brother is out here somewhere, but I keep forgetting what his user ID is... I've found Misplaced Pages useful the same way library encyclopediae were in my schooldays (middle-late 20th century): I can browse thru info and then jump to a related article. Much faster online: those Britannicae and Compton's were heavy! Plus I'm a born proofreader: I have actually done three projects for newspapers and technical journals (alas for free!). I find correctly-punctuated, clear and precise diction refreshing and enervating. So watch for my sporadic escapades in Minor Edits. PS I am a recovering Trekkie so I will fix any flaws I find in the ST articles. Dan4JDan4J (Dan Fortier)

Hi there

I've had this account for a while but I've never had a welcome message, cool! Telor

Thanks!

Thanks for the message!

I still need to learn a lot more about creating pages, and editing them - the links you provided will be a great help! Desdinova 19:22, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Learning How to Use the Softwear

Hi, thank you for your message. I'm learning how to use the softwear in order to upload and to edit files and pages. Once I "got it" it really is easy softwear to use. I'm surprized at what is happening here a Misplaced Pages. For instance, I only wanted to put in one page of a certain subject, but when I put that page in, I had to create other pages so that it would not become orphaned. I find the whole process interesting. Best regards, Marian. P.S. check out Yda Addis
