Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Misplaced Pages. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Misplaced Pages:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Misplaced Pages:

The Misplaced Pages tutorial is a good place to start learning about Misplaced Pages. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Information icon Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Rise of Macedon. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Misplaced Pages this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Misplaced Pages is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. MPS1992 (talk) 22:47, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Rise of Macedon is covered by sanctions

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Template:Z33 Ancient events risk being politicized due to the modern disputes over the use of the name Macedonia. We expect that people who work on these articles have the ability to edit neutrally. We expect that they are not biased due to any personal affiliations they may have with one side or the other. EdJohnston (talk) 00:45, 19 October 2018 (UTC)

A separate page in which to collect sources, perhaps

Hello, perhaps you would consider creating a new page, for example at User:Dragao2004/Sources related to the ancient kingdom of Macedonia for the purpose of collecting and updating the above information. It makes things easier. MPS1992 (talk) 17:12, 23 October 2018 (UTC) Thank you... Dragao2004 (talk) 19:58, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Advice

I see that your editing has brought you into considerable conflict with a number of other editors. I don't need to spell out what the problems have been, as they have already been written about at length, on several pages, as you are well aware, but it may help you if I warn you of a couple of things. As has been pointed out to you, Misplaced Pages works by consensus, and we all need to accept consensus, whether we agree with it or not. Obviously anyone can give reasons why they think consensus is wrong, but there has to come a point when we accept that consensus is against us, and walk away. Anyone who does not do so, but persists in editing in ways that others agree is unhelpful, may be blocked from editing, as may be editors who persist in editing contrary to Misplaced Pages policies and guidelines. It is possible that you are heading towards that, so you need to be careful, so as to avoid it. You clearly have strong views on how Misplaced Pages should report certain issues, but strength of belief that one's own view is the right one should not be allowed to override the facts that Misplaced Pages is a collaborative project and that one often needs to compromise, or even gracefully accept that one's opinion does not hold sway. Notice that you are now subject to an arbitration enforcement sanction

The following sanction now applies to you:

You are banned for a period of two months from the time of this notice from any editing relating to Macedonia. This covers all editing, whether in articles, on talk pages in user pages, or anywhere else, relating directly or indirectly to Macedonia.

You have been sanctioned for the following reason. Despite numerous messages from various editors explaining the problems in your editing, on this page, at Talk:Rise of Macedon, and on other editors' talk pages, you persist in endlessly repeating the same points, failing to take in what is said to you by others, failing to drop your position when it must have long been obvious to you that there is a consensus against you, and clearly editing only for the purpose of attempting to get Misplaced Pages articles to conform to your point of view. It has reached the stage where you are doing nothing other than wasting time of other editors who could better spend the time in more productive ways.

This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the authority of the Arbitration Committee's decision at Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Macedonia#Final decision and, if applicable, the procedure described at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions. This sanction has been recorded in the log of sanctions. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction using the process described here. I recommend that you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template if you wish to submit an appeal to the arbitration enforcement noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me (on my talk page), before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 13:10, 2 November 2018 (UTC)

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for violations of the topic ban mentioned above. If you continue in the same way you may well finish up blocked permanently, so I strongly recommend starting to take notice of the many messages you have been given. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 18:38, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
