The Yana River (Яна in Russian), a river in Sakha in Russia. It is 872 km in length. The area of its basin is 238,000 sq km. The river begins at the confluence of the rivers Sartang and Dulgalakh. As it flows into the Yansky Bay of the Laptev Sea, it forms a huge river delta (10,200 sq km). There are approx. 40,000 lakes in the Yana basin. The river freezes up in October and stays under the ice until late May - early June (in the Verkhoyansk area, it stays completely frozen for 70-110 days). Principal tributaries: Adycha, Oldzho, Abyrabyt, Bytantay. Main ports: Verkhoyansk, Batagay, Ust-Kuyga, Nizhneyansk.
