No mention of the US invasion of Panama

It came to my attention that the article doesn't mention the US invasion of Panama. Is there a reason? 46.19.86.168 (talk) 16:11, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Why should it be mentioned? This article is about the Panama Canal, not about Panama. The Banner talk 17:19, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
Because the US used the enforcement of the canal treaties as part of its rationale for the invasion and arrest of Manuel Noriega. I would propose adding a sentence such as the following to the penultimate paragraph of the History > Later developments section (I would have done this myself had the article not been protected following Trump's recent remarks):
Deteriorating relations between Panama and the US which culminated in the United States invasion of Panama and the US arrest of Manuel Noriega did not significantly impact the implementation of the treaties. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:441:4B80:340:C81B:56DB:1B42:28A1 (talk) 03:54, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Merged History section with Article History of the Panama Canal

I have just merged the History section which had grown up in this article with the already existing article History of the Panama Canal. There will inevitably be duplications. Any compressions, refinements, etc. should be made in that article. SRamzy (talk) 14:58, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Panama Canal

It would be nice if someone could include the amount of revenue that was collected especially through the early years and who it was dispersed to. 2603:7081:333E:DA80:6CA4:D94A:3D59:EE9 (talk) 17:27, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 26 December 2024

It is requested that an edit be made to the semi-protected article at Panama Canal. (edit · history · last · links · protection log)

This template must be followed by a complete and specific description of the request, that is, specify what text should be removed and a verbatim copy of the text that should replace it. "Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y".

The edit may be made by any autoconfirmed user. Remember to change the |answered=no parameter to "yes" when the request has been accepted, rejected or on hold awaiting user input. This is so that inactive or completed requests don't needlessly fill up the edit requests category. You may also wish to use the {{ESp}} template in the response. To request that a page be protected or unprotected, make a protection request.

For the 21st century section, I recommend adding this: On December 24, a protest is held at the U.S. Embassy in Panama City over Trump's threat to take back the Panama Canal. Protesters also refer to him as a "public enemy" of Panama. 217.180.201.163 (talk) 00:15, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

I have added the requested comment to the article History of the Panama Canal. SRamzy (talk) 10:14, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
