Dr. Seyed Mohammad Sadegh Kharazi is an Iranian diplomat who has served twice as Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister.

He started his career in the government in 1983 during the Iran-Iraq war as a member of the Supreme Defense Council of Iran and the IRIB. He is Iran's former ambassador to the UN (1989-1995), and France (2002-2005). Kharazi was also the senior adviser to Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati. In addition Kharazi was chairman of the 1997 Tehran OIC Summit. He is currently on leave of absence due to his conflicting political viewpoint with the present Iranian administration and is former President Khatami's adviser.

He is a member of the board of several Iranian cultural, educational and research centers: Tehran University, the Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran, the National Library of Iran et al. He was also a key figure in Iran’s two-year nuclear negotiations with the EU trio and past advocate of “normalisation” with the United States.
