RE: What template is this? thank you.

- You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on United States presidential election debates, 2008. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Onorem♠Dil 22:22, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Your comment on Request for Arbitration page
- "The overwhelming edits of these three user accounts has been to delete well referenced material, while too my knowledge, adding nothing or very little to the article itself."
Good day, I believe, in your statement, you have inaccurately and unfairly included my name. In regards to the content in question on the Joe Wurtzwhateverhisnameis article, I have only removed that content twice. All of my other edits have been either constructive (see all the reference format cleanups) or to enforce other policies (removing weasel words and NPOV violations). I do not consider that to be "very little" contribution. I would appreciate it if you would update your comment on the arbitration page to clarify these facts. Thank you. - That is the great thing about wiki, you can edit out your mistakes, my apologies. Inclusionist (talk) 04:22, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Mr. Block
Thanks for your note on Mr. Block. I came across the article, and thought the parallels with Joe the Plumber were striking. Pustelnik (talk) 11:00, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Heh. Twinkle can revert edits with one click in just about a second. :-) –Juliancolton 14:21, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Joe the Plumber
It's quite amazing. Of course, all the protection has done is stop the editing for a while. I wonder when we'll all tire of this one. As an aside, I do wish Arzel would stop misusing the word "libel".Mattnad (talk)
- I wish editors would stop abusing acronyms like WP:BLP. You do know veteran editors read their "enemies" talk pages? Inclusionist (talk) 19:33, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- Of course. I do it all the time. Mattnad (talk) 20:28, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

I've stopped adding to article because it is so volatile that anything you put in gets deleted in a few minutes.

- the article is protect right now. thanks for the articles. I really loved the Misplaced Pages one, I will add that to the talk page, as is custom. Inclusionist (talk) 20:37, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Nobility vs Pragmatism?
I assumed I was being more pragmatic than anything (I don't think it's all that noble of me), but you'll notice the last sentence of my entry stated that I roundly expect to hear the chirping of crickets more than anyone pledging not to start another edit war. I really appreciate your positive participation, though! Thanks for that. --VictorC (talk) 00:48, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Wow! Guess you were right. Crickets. Nothing but crickets chirping. --VictorC (talk) 04:49, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

BLP privacy policy for limited public figures
I think that the current deadlock on Joe the plumber is due to unclear BLP policy on limited public figures. I've made a proposal to clarify the policy here. Since you are one of the parties involved in the dispute, this is a notification for your input on the proposed policy clarification. VG ☎ 10:56, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Request for mediation not accepted
A Request for Mediation to which you were are a party was not accepted and has been delisted. You can find more information on the case subpage, Misplaced Pages:Requests for mediation/Joe the Plumber.

SCRUGGS, William Lindsay 1836-1912
I'm creating a biographical stub. Here is where I found this name. I looked up the person, he's a 19th century ambassador to Columbia and Venezuela, and there are blind links on other Misplaced Pages pages to his name, both as William Scruggs and as William L. Scruggs. I've got enough to publish, with what I created in my personal sandbox (I hope!). Here's what I have so far.
Can you help with this?? I'd like to have it linked to both versions of the name. Also, I guess there should be a way to take it off the list? Thanks for your help. --VictorC (talk) 19:24, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- The very first thing you need to do is research. Try Google Book and Google Scholar, and the archives of Google News. This is more than enough, but your library should have access to historical NYT. If you are a student, you should have access to several databases.
- When you first build a page, you have to make it look like a well sourced wikipedia page from the beginning. this avoids speedy deletes. I haven't had a new article speedy deleted for years, and those articles which were speedy deleted, were not for their content, they were for the controversy behind them, deleted by edit warrior deletionists.
How to create a deletion proof article. First Cut and paste text from your sources. Second Use the ref tags I have on my user page to link to those sources. Third Look for bio templates which are usually on the right side of the page (Joe the Plumber has one called Template:Infobox Person) Fourth Add: - ==Notes==
- <references/>
- to the bottom of the page
Fifth Add a {{stub}}, or better yet, search for a stub which matches your page. Sixth Look for people with similar bios, and add category's to the bottom of the page: - Example:
- ]
- Let me know if you need any more help.
- Also, I guess there should be a way to take it off the list?
- What list? Link please?
- Inclusionist (talk) 19:36, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've got some new information thanks to the links you gave me. I'll redo the page. Here is the list of WIKIPEDIA REQUESTED ARTICLES where I found this name (it was close to deletion). Hey they just deleted the list where I found this dude, and he WAS notable. He was US diplomat for like 25 years during the late 19th century. I'll have to go to the other editor's talk page, now! --VictorC (talk) 20:08, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- OK. Got your message in time. I was busy rescuing the list on my user sandbox. At least one US Ambassador on this list! Thanks for the guidance!! --VictorC (talk) 20:27, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

- Think I'm about 85-90% ready to post it. Would you like to see it so far? SCRUGGS, William Lindsay 1836-1912 Think I need a stub and categories. I'm thinking it might be easier to add those during posting, though.--VictorC (talk) 23:23, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi!! Hey I found a better infobox. I saw you messing around with it! LOL. --VictorC (talk) 01:42, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
The article is live, one thing I didn't mention, is the copyright people. I don't think they will ever get wind of this, but they might. Inclusionist (talk) 01:44, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- What do you mean?? Hey I still need a little work on the references. --VictorC (talk) 01:47, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- References: doing that now. You need to at least add the title to all of you references you add, because web-links break. It breaks my heart when I have to delete websites from wikipedia because they are broken and the person who added the website didn't bother to add a title.
- Deletionism and inclusionism in Misplaced Pages and User:Inclusionist#A_surprisingly_frank_admission_by_a_former_Wikipedian
- There is a group of wikipedians who are nothing but vicious bullies, and find joy in destroying other people's contributions. Not one in a hundred of them are attorneys, and yet they interpret copyright law and impose their naive and draconian views on others. Inclusionist (talk) 01:53, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- I cleaned it up. Nice job, your first article. If you enjoyed making this article, I would suggest adding more references, and putting things into your own words, without losing the essence of the source material. Inclusionist (talk) 02:03, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hey can we set up a kind of disambiguation page, because all the ambassador pages have him listed by his middle initial. Ideally we should have the one of the full name (which is there already), one of the middle initial, and one of no initial. I don't know how to set that up. --VictorC (talk) 02:14, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Create a new page with the name you want. click the #R button. Inside of #REDIRECT ] add the page you want to link too. Inclusionist (talk) 02:17, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

- Yippee. It worked fine. Now all the other ambassador pages link up with the new page! Thanks. It was pretty intriguing, and I actually learned a lot of stuff while I was working on it. The funny thing is, I never found out where he was buried, if he had a spouse, if he was a Republican, and lots of other stuff. But you don't need to worry too much about the text. I didn't really just cut and paste too much. Most, if not all of it is paraphrased. I know how to do that on my own. I went to high school. --VictorC (talk) 02:31, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Did you use the button? All those buttons above are really, really neat, they save tons of time. I remember when their was no #R button, Misplaced Pages is really incredible, constantly evolving and changing technologically, always for the better (the social groups, and rules element is another story entirely). That is why I keep coming back.
- I know how to do that on my own. I went to high school. Junior high school kids can paraphrase, but it takes real skill to paraphrase well. I still have trouble summing up another person's words, and I have a law degree and another masters degree. You did a great job, better than many of my new articles now, and I have been here for three years.

Hey I have a photo (digitized, not in copyright) taken from The University of California I just took a fuzzy image of the map from Scrugg's pamphlet (British aggressions in Venezuela, or, The Monroe doctrine on trial - 1895). I would like to upload it. I think there's a good place to insert it into my article and also here: Schomburgk Line. I'm trying to upload the photo now. According to the website, 'Possible copyright status: NOT_IN_COPYRIGHT' is there as you can most likely see. I hope I'm not jumping the gun here! --VictorC (talk) 10:06, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Good luck. Some jack asses removed photos I uploaded from the late 19th century. I stopped uploading photos about a year ago, I got tired of the nasty attitude of the copyright nazis, and the autobot messages I would get in my mail box all the time. It is just not worth it.Inclusionist (talk) 14:40, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
