I did notice comment. I am concerned because you stated some clearly negative prejudice against me. I am not comfortable letting this stand without mitigation. If we can talk, and clear these concerns, that would be great. I have insight regarding this matter, and I think a statement of your equivalent, requires a balancing sentiment. I'm not seeking to have a holiday named in my honor, but I will not observe an offensive, against my good character and not initiate reservations. And I do reserve every manner of recourse which may exist. I'd like to see your response, before other considerations. Regards. ] (]) 23:25, 22 March 2011 (UTC) | I did notice comment. :Townlake, I don't agree with you much on many things but I certainly agree with you on the autopromotion 100%. Perhaps I see a start here where we can collaborate rather than work against each other. --] (]) 16:38, 25 March 2011 (UTC) |

Signature question
Hi Townlake. No, I'm not here to badger you about your RfA opinion on signatures, but I thought that since you clearly take one of the stricter views in the community I would ask for your opinion on mine - I am spending a lot of time working with new users. I personally agree that it is often misleading how to get to a talk page, so I have made the largest part of my signature a link directly there. I only started adding the TT later, after I realized that people may try to get to User:Worm and fail, so User:WormTT is now a redirect to my page. Since it was an addition, I pointed to my userpage with it. In your opinion do you think it's user friendly :) Worm 18:03, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message and the good faith question. Candidly, my answer to your question is "no." If I can't eyeball your sig and see exactly how to get to your talk page, it's unnecessarily complicated. By default, the signature function is perfectly functional and easily understood; any fancy signature that imperfects these features for the sake of being pretty strikes me as contrary to the inclusive goals of our project. Obviously the RFA community disagrees with me, so take my opinion for whatever value you attach to it. Townlake (talk) 20:21, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- I was just curious, especially since I am focused on helping new users. I've got a "leave me a message" on my talk page to help that, but will have a think if there's anything more I can do. Thanks for giving me your honest opinion, will have a think Worm 20:47, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- Just an update. I've been thinking about this for a few days and I agree that new users might be confused by the signature issue. However, I find unique signatures awfully helpful too, allowing easier navigation in threads, so you can instantly see if two users are having a conversation etc. I've decided to go for a trade off, which I'm pretty happy with. Not asking for your approval or anything, I just thought you'd be interested to know that you are making a difference! Worm · (talk) 11:51, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update... and I know you didn't return to seek my approval, but I happen to like the change. Townlake (talk) 13:50, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- With all due respect, I feel it is at best idiotic and or blatantly stupid to oppose an RFA (Which should be based on the merits of the candidate and his or her experiance) on the basis of a signature making it hard to get to a person's talk page in lieu of actually GOING TO THE PERSON'S TALK PAGE and respectly requesting that they change it for useability. Failure to do that smack's of punitive laziness. My talk page easy enough to find? «l| Promethean ™|l» (talk) 15:53, 18 March 2011 (UTC) I edited Promethean's joke signature so it wouldn't malformat the page. Hello
Ciao! Sei un amministratore? Come si fa a cancellare alcune parti della cronologia in una pagina? Puoi farlo tu? O serve un Amministratore? Spero in una risposta!--Jepk (talk) 16:50, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ciao e benvenuto, Jepk!
Perche?
Perche hai fatto questo? You undid my revision on the "Italian Language" page. This is perfectly all right considering we all have our own unique input, I was simply wondering for a reasoning behind this, thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zambia95 (talk • contribs) 02:54, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- Perhaps you're brand new and didn't realize you can't just add anything you want to to any Misplaced Pages article. Because your edit was completely unrelated to the section you added it to, and had no source to back up your claim about it, the article is better without that sentence. And I couldn't just move the sentence somewhere else, as you didn't include a reliable source to back up your assertion about the sentence being an Italian classic. If you can somehow find a reliable source backing up your claim that this naughty little phrase is essential to a reader's understanding of the Italian language, then please prove me wrong, and go right ahead and put it back in. In bocca al lupo. Townlake (talk) 03:21, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, you are correct I am brand new. I was not aware of this "source" business. thank you for your words of encouragement, I will try my best. Arrivederci. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zambia95 (talk • contribs) 20:31, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
