Dawn Princess is a Sun class US-based cruise ship, operated by Princess Cruises. It is the sister ship of the Sapphire Princess, and was built in 1997 in Italy. It features eight restaurants, four pools, five Jacuzzis, seven lounges and bars, and two children centres. Some restaurants offer “anytime dining” where passengers can dine with whom they want, when they want.
Dawn Princess is dividing her time between Alaska and the Caribbean in 2006.
Dawn Princess will replace the Pacific Princess next year, sailing Australian waters between October 2006 and March 2007, becoming the largest ship ever be based in Australia. According to P&O Cruises managing director Gavin Smith, Dawn Princess will be tailored for the Australian market, with onboard prices in Australian dollars. The ship will offer cruises of between eight and 13 days from Sydney to the South Pacific, New Zealand and Tasmania, as well as a special four-week circumnavigation of Australia. Itineraries and fares will be available from September, 2006.
In addition to Dawn Princess' deployment, Sapphire Princess will continue to cruise the Australasian waters in the 2006/07 season. Diamond Princess will be back in Australia on January 8, 2007 for a season of longer Australian and New Zealand cruises.
