User Prosfilaes
Has accused me of putting falsehoods or lies into an aviation template. On 4 occasions. Here, here, here, here here and here. There's probably an edit or two more. It's not true. The italics and bolds were removed per consensus, reverted, and then reversed again while a new discussion was started. This editor needs something, possibly a block, to shut him or her up....William 21:28, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- It's hard to see in the history, since it's a template in a template, but at the time he made those changes, the template said "Accidents with more then 50 fatalities are italicized". He then removed the italics from accidents with more than 50 fatalities. I've explained this elsewhere, like on the talk page of the template, but he has been more interested in accusing me of personal attacks then listening to the complaints about content.--Prosfilaes (talk) 21:45, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) Matty, TRM, I think it's time for some quid pro quo reviews to be offered. The Rambling Man is perfectly capable of nominating his own articles if he thinks they're appropriate for DYK, and with these four, Matty has nominated ten of TRM's boat race GAs at this point. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:31, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

User: WattleBird's reverting against consensus
I have no time to delve into this. Please take it to WP:DRN or similar. Sorry. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:16, 4 August 2014 (UTC)The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Consensus has been made on an edit at the American Dad! article as shown by the discussion here Talk:American Dad!#Season 11 & season 12 dispute, yet User WattleBird has reverted despite consensus and is now pretending like various editors agree with him when they've actually expressed disagreement with him.
I have made every attempt to avoid an edit war and be reasonable with User: WattleBird regarding this edit at the American Dad! article, that includes reaching out to individuals at Fox and starting up the discussion at the talk page so as to seek a consensus regarding the edit all as shown here Talk:American Dad!#Season 11 & season 12 dispute. All my efforts have been met with disruption from the user. As you'll see by the article, all editors who have contributed to the discussion besides WattleBird himself and 1 other user have expressed opposition to his desired edit.
The long and short of the editing dispute in question is that season 10 of the American Dad! aired during 2013-14. A 15-episode season 11 is to begin on October 30, 2014, on TBS. However, Fox recently issued a new report that there are 3 episodes left to air on Fox on September 14 and September 21. WattleBird believes this recent announcement is reason to change everything up, so that the 3 episodes of American Dad! on Fox are considered their very own season, a "microseason 11" as he describes it, and now the 15 episodes on TBS, a season 12. As shown by the discussion, all editors besides 1 user have expressed opposition to that.
When consensus against the 3 episode micro-season became clear, I went ahead and edited the article accordingly but was reverted by WattleBird here . On the article, he went so far as claiming that a user who blatantly disagreed with him had agreed with him, as shown in the following link where he states he received no opposition from User:Spongey . However, here is User:Spongey's input in that discussion in which he states pointblank "no season 11 and season 12 shit" . Furthermore, User Spongey is even shown incorporating the three episodes as the end of season 10 in the following link .
Yet WattleBird somehow believes this user has agreed with him and that he hasn't received any opposition. As shown by WattleBird's own talk page here, he has a long history of getting blocked for edit warring and seems to be showing an eagerness to bicker and edit war with me. I simply do not have the patience for this type of behavior which is why I have come to you. If you could put a stop to the editor's disruptiveness, that be much appreciated. Thank you! AmericanDad86 (talk) 11:16, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- The reason I feel consensus hasn't been reached is because you haven't clearly explained why you feel the micro-season isn't valid and provided reason why the FOX press release that labels the episodes that air in September as a "season premiere" is incorrect. Your initial comment used "evidence" such as articles that were based on now out-of-date information and a "lack of Google search results". You haven't explained yourself properly and instead have just waited for enough people to align themselves with what you've wanted all along and then pounced and edited it and feel you should have your own way. You haven't been actively involved in the discussion at all.
- You seem to think all you needed to get consensus was to get enough "votes", but you also need to explain yourself with valid arguments which you just haven't done and, for some reason, refuse to do. You MUST explain yourself so that if someone comes along in six months time and tries to edit this particular issue, they can be pointed to the talk page and can read the entire discussion to understand why it is the way it is - as it stands, they would just see a vote which is what you've turned this into. - Wattlebird (talk) 18:16, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Boat race articles
I didn't bring this up in the GA review, but what are you thoughts on including the equipment used in these races? I am sure they have changed many times over the years, and may not actually be known in many cases, but I thought interesting to know what kind of boats, oars, etc. that may be used.Neonblak - 19:32, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, it's a good point, but the general The Boat Race article should or will cover this. When significant changes have taken place, e.g. the intro of blades, I've covered it in The Boat Race 1993 (including nice pictures). The Rambling Man (talk) 20:21, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive
Hello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!
TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.
If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.
At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.
As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

Hi. I need you to help me keep an eye out for Chelsea-fan1 on the article, you being a sysop and all. Been making unconstructive edits all day. Me and Jaellee have been keeping the article in check but it looks like he won't let up and it's gonna escalate into an edit war. Davykamanzi → talk • contribs • alter ego 16:54, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Looks like it's done. Will keep checking it. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:15, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah he went ahead and violated 3RR now. Apparently efforts to solve the dispute have been useless and I've reported him here. Davykamanzi → talk • contribs • alter ego 19:51, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Fury 325
Because you are an admin, can you please move Fury 325 (Carowinds) to Fury 325. The "Fury 325" name has been blocked because a user was creating the article with made up information multiple times (article got deleted 3 times) and only admins can create an article in he "Fury 325" namespace. Thanks!--Dom497 (talk) 03:26, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi
How do you do? Regarding ITN, a question that is there is not a credit for Recent Deaths posts? For example, Hashim Khan was posted yesterday, B. K. S. Iyengar five days ago, Richard Attenborough yesterday too, still the nominators/updaters' talk pages have not got messages about ITN postage/credit. But I see that the popular Bank of America settlement updater Seattle also has not got credit. Besides there may be other cases too. Requesting you to have a look. Faizan 06:29, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- I don't really know much about the credit system, it's not of interest to me really. I'm sure everyone who has something feature at ITN (or any other main page process) could be credited. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:12, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Can you protect pages?
Hi TRM. There is a persistent IP which is changing the subject of Donovan Matthews the cricketer to one about a non-notable athlete, and has been doing so on and off for the last year or so. Would you be able to put some form of protection on it allowing only registered users to edit it? Thanks, Howzat?Out!Out!Out! (talk) 09:39, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- I could, but the level of vandalism is so low that it doesn't really warrant a page protection. I know that's not really what you want to hear, but at the least, I'll add it to my watchlist. If, perhaps, one day the IP stays around long enough, we could discuss with him what's needed. Or, we could look into the "other" Donovan to check whether he's notable enough for a page... ISIS/Iraq/Syria - ongoing
Yes, I realize my posts here have not made a difference. However, I think it's an exaggeration to say they are "entirely inappropriate." A general discussion has taken place there. I was trying to stimulate further action on the topic and attendant issues.
This is a very high-profile story. The problem with WP's coverage (if one may use the term) is, as AHeneen noted, "there's no one article to describe the main conflict that's dominating the news." Too many (amateur) cooks have spoiled the broth, producing instead of a single continuous narrative a mishmash of six articles, some incomplete, others seriously prolix with minutiae — none really presentable.
I'm not an expert on this topic. I'm just sitting here 6,000 miles away reading the news online. As a Wikipedian, and as someone who was trained in journalism (but who never had a chance to play in the big leagues), it bothered me that this story was long absent from ITN. But I'm not competent to rewrite the whole topic for WP and I'm not going to try.
You've chastised me more than once for "inappropriately" posting news bits at WP:ITNC. I can see it from your point of view — not following the organizational chart, etc. Perhaps I'll just bow out and try not to think of ITN as our summary of global events ("not a news ticker") (although whoever came up with 'ticker' chose a Britishism not used elsewhere).
WP is not a news organization. A genuine news organization would have internal controls (real editors) over what, and how much, is written about news events, and writers who understand such basic principles as consciseness and continuity — to say nothing of timeliness.
The situation is hopeless, but perhaps not serious. There are plenty of other news sources. Sca (talk) 15:09, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- Anyone and everyone is encouraged to update articles. Some of us can clear up references etc, it's no problem. Continually banging on about the situation doesn't make it any more likely to be posted in reality, and in fact, your recent drumming was after the posting of the inappropriately out-of-date ongoing article. If you did care, you would spend the time on the articles instead of berating us all with the continual links to the "horrors". The Rambling Man (talk) 15:34, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, RM, for not giving me credit for WP:GF — and maligning my personal motives. As I said, I'll bow out. But I think you're dismissing the issues I raised above regarding the quality of WP articles about current events. (Not that any one person can fix them.)
- I'll continue editing articles in areas where I'm competent, such as central & eastern European history and culture. Sca (talk) 16:01, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- Better that you focus on the articles you wish to promote. It's not too difficult. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:07, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
I agree that this is an important ongoing story and that User:Sca's comments weren't out of line. Furthermore, I'd like to take this opportunity to remark about your (The Rambling Man) attitude when dealing with users on the ITN candidates page (and above and a couple other places, for that matter). There's the line above this comment and remarks on the ITN candidates page like:
- "Calm the fuck down" (Troops from Russia launch new front in Ukraine)
- "Post-posting support for RD glad I don't drink or take hallucinogenic drugs while working on Misplaced Pages!!!!" (Richard Attenborough)
- From the Bárðarbunga discussion:
- "One for the whiners",
- "Wow, you need to get back to your happy pills...Your tirade is noted, and reflects nothing other than your own repressed inadequacies I'm afraid...But hey, who needs any kind of good faith when "Jayron" is tearing someone a new hole?"
- "Good news, my trip may still be on!" I take this to be sarcasm when others disagreed with you and the story didn't pan out? Yes? No?
- "Your "insight" is truly fascinating. So what are you going to do next?" (on Misplaced Pages talk:In the news#Slow news: is "Ongoing" partly to blame?)
- "That's great. Perhaps User:Viriditas can visit there to get his daily dose of lulz rather than stomp around complaining (but doing little else) about the listings at ITN." and "If you actually cared about the things of which you moan, you would actively help do something rather than drop your bitch bomb and expect others to rush around placating you." (both from Misplaced Pages talk:In the news#Good news: sources)
Misplaced Pages:Administrators#Administrator conduct states: "Administrators are expected to lead by example and to behave in a respectful, civil manner in their interactions with others." You clearly are not behaving in a respectful or civil matter! I only just happened to notice the final 2 remarks as I was scrolling quickly up that page, there's many more, long discussions there & I'm sure there's plenty more examples of such uncivil behavior on that page and others where your involved in discussions. Civility is one of Misplaced Pages's five pillars, stating: "Stated simply, editors should always treat each other with consideration and respect" and (Misplaced Pages:Civility#Incivility) "Incivility consists of personal attacks, rudeness and disrespectful comments...In cases of repeated harassment or egregious personal attacks, then the offender may be blocked. Even a single act of severe incivility could result in a block, such as a single episode of extreme verbal abuse or profanity directed at another contributor, or a threat against another person." Your behavior is unacceptable for an admin. You need to stop making personal attacks and extremely rude/disrespectful remarks to other users. If not, then I think a review of your behavior needs to be discussed at the Admin noticeboard. Given that the above states even a single act can result in a block, I'm sure some form of reprimand/punishment would be given to an admin. AHeneen (talk) 19:45, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- Go for it, I have little time for this. Whether or not you think Sca's ongoing plastering of links at ITN is right or wrong is entirely irrelevant to me. Of course, taking every single quotation you've dug up entirely out of its context will work wonders for you, I'm sure a visit to ANI will be a marvellous experience for us all. I won't be commenting, or even looking. Congratulations on your attempt to intimidate me. You are no longer welcome to post here, thanks so much. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:52, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Your reverse-edit with comment "not a videprinter". (Honest, I had to check what "videprinter" was.)
