:I'm going to respond to this. I do not think there needs to be a compromise. Why are you seeking a compromise now? because you are losing? When I asked for a compromise maybe a week ago, i got no positive response from you. Well too bad. Now that I have read the naming conventions and know that I am right and people support me then I am winning? No There is no winner. I am just making everything right again from POV pushers (im not naming anyone). The Republic of China is a sovereign nation. It is not Taiwan. The Republic of China governs Taiwan as Taiwan Province, Republic of China. These articles are political division articles. Therefore, according to Misplaced Pages conventions, we should put County, Province, Country. Tainan County, Taiwan Province, Republic of China. That is the correct way. If you dont like it, please stop destroying it on Misplaced Pages or go somewhere else. -] 22:31, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Sid212, welcome to Misplaced Pages. Not to be offensive, but are you a sock puppet of Nationalist (talk · contribs)?--Jerrypp772000 02:13, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

No, I am not. I do find that offensive. I just come to help Misplaced Pages and I get this. Please refer to Misplaced Pages Chinese Naming conventions please. -Sid212 03:44, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, that's pretty weird for a new user to look into Misplaced Pages:Naming Conventions (Chinese) on his first ten edits. You should be the one discuss about the edit conflict, not others. Vic226(chat) 04:04, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Uhh, why are you telling me to read the naming conventions? I only asked if you were a sock puppet of Nationalist. But ok, I had read it before already.--Jerrypp772000 22:19, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Warning

Regarding this:, please assume good faith. Maybe I should not say this myself, but I just can't stand people saying negative things about me, that's not how it works here. By the way, there's no such thing as "It was fine before he came along," because this is an encyclopedia, and editors do things to make it better. So please stop saying I'm a POV user. Thanks.--Jerrypp772000 23:05, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Also, please refer to WP:CIVIL, *WP:POINT*, *WP:DE*, and *WP:DENSE*. Remember that being disruptive in editing in Misplaced Pages only to prove a point/idea is worse than a POV editor, especially when there are more than one such "POV editors" (sockpuppet excluded) who disagree with your "factual contributions" with various arguments. If you choose to continue such behavior, be advised that a request-for-comment on both you (including User:Nationalist as you are suspected to be likely a sockpuppet of his) and the current edit warring will be filed without hesitation. Thank you. Vic226(chat) 00:27, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

hi, I am assuming good faith and apologize for any offense. However, I would like to stress the importance of the naming conventions chinese for these articles. The city is political so therefore should reflect Republic of China administrative divisions including Taiwan province, Republic of China -Sid212 00:55, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

I understand what you are trying to explain to us. I would like to point out lightly that when there is no absolute need for addressing the political status of Taiwan, such as biographical articles like Ang Lee and Chien-Ming Wang, it is best to retract from such controversial topic being inserted since it does not contribute to their importance at any point. At one point, Misplaced Pages tries to avoid addressing controversial/disputed topics as much as possible to maintain its neutral point-of-view, hence the "when it is necessary..." in the Naming Conventions (Chinese). Vic226(chat) 01:07, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Also, it is not really assuming good faith when you have accused someone for unproven violations, such as that about the POV edits. I hope you will remember this and edit peacefully. Vic226(chat) 01:13, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Compromise maybe

If you're really not Nationalist, it seems like you're a little more reasonable. Recently, there had been disputes about cities in Taiwan. Some people think putting Taiwan only would be more appropriate than putting Taiwan, ROC. However, as you showed me, disputed naming conventions for Chinese say that putting ROC would be the political NPOV. On the other hand, WP:NC (common names) say we should put the common name, which is Taiwan. So I want you to know, since Taiwan, ROC is extremely confusing for people outside of Asia, we should put something like:

  • ...is located in ... County, Taiwan, which is currently governed by the ROC.

or

  • ...County, ROC, which is commonly known as Taiwan.

I think that would be more neutral. And please tell User:Nationalist that, because he wouldn't cooperate with me for some unknown reason, but I think he would trust you, since you're a new editor supporting his POV. Thanks!--Jerrypp772000 02:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
