Wishbone Ash are a British classic rock band, formed in Devon, (1966 in music|1966) as The Empty Vessels, then Tanglewood.
History
The group settled on Wishbone Ash and soon began performing in England, among others with Deep Purple. They have always blended elements of jazz fusion, hard rock and other styles into their unique twin guitar-lead sound. The original line-up was Andy Powell, Ted Turner, Martin Turner and Steve Upton. In 1970, the band released Wishbone Ash to generally positive reviews and sales. In 1974 Ted Turner quit the band and was replaced by Laurie Wisefield. A long series of albums have been released in the 1970s
Thereafter in the 1980s and multiple personnel changes followed. In spite of a rabid following, Wishbone Ash was never able to achieve widespread success. That said they still have a very large fan base and are constantly on touring, currently as of 2004.

Q: A T.Rex Connection?
- A: Wishbone Ash wrote a song about the site where Marc Bolan of T Rex died called Bolan's Monument. The site is now Bolan's Rock Shrine visited by many people (from around the world) each year and cared for on a charitable basis by TAG (founded in 1999).
