Regina Wender was the mother of former world chess champion Bobby Fischer. She was an American riveter in a defense plant and later became a teacher, nurse and physician. She was Jewish, making the anti-semetic Bobby Fischer Jewish. Regina was married to German biophysicist Hans-Gerhardt Fischer, but divorced him in 1945.
