On the morning of 19 December 2024, lawmaker Adgur Kharazia opened fire against his political rivals inside the Parliament of Abkhazia before escaping from the scene. Adgur fatally wounded lawmaker Vakhtang Golandzia and injured another, Kan Kvartchia, before escaping.
