Md. Tauseef Alam (b. 22 November 2002) is an Indian social worker, activist, and legal researcher. He is currently assisting the office of Shri Sujeet Kumar, a Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Petition Committee, as a Public Policy and Law Researcher. In this role, he contributes to addressing issues of national importance presented before the Indian Parliament (Rajya Sabha).
Tauseef Alam has previously worked with Senior Advocate and veteran politician Salman Khurshid on legal matters, including the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Minority Status case and the SC/ST Reservation case before a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court of India.
In addition to his professional and social work endeavors, Tauseef Alam is a martial artist. He holds a Black Belt Shodan (初段), awarded by the Global Seishinkai Shitoryu Karate-Do Federation in 2020.
Social Causes
Alam has played a significant role in advocating for the formulation of a Uniform Menstrual Policy in India. After extensive efforts, he successfully facilitated the issuance of a directive by the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education (F.No.17-5/2023-U.5) to the University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education, urging them to investigate and take necessary action on the matter. His efforts, along with the Public Interest Litigation filed by Dr. Jaya Thakur at the Hon'ble Supreme Court, contributed to the development of the Uniform Menstrual Policy, a significant initiative by the Government of India aimed at addressing menstrual health and hygiene issues across the country.
In addition to his work on menstrual health, Tauseef Alam has assisted the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) as a research assistant in the implementation of a mandated HIV test for victims under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In this role, he supported the commission in outlining steps for the effective and efficient medical examination of POCSO victims, with a specific focus on the integration of HIV testing into the process.
Karate Journey
Alam began his journey as a Karate player in his early school days, gradually gaining prominence within the West Bengal Team. He was affiliated with the Global Seishinkai Shitorye Karate Do Federation, which is recognized by the Karate Association of Bengal. Throughout his martial arts career, Tauseef was mentored by Shihan Swarup Jasu and Hanshi Premjit Sen, who guided him in his development as a martial artist.
