Some of these theories are considered by some to lie the outside boundary of the "conventional" or "mainstream" science (though the definition of each of these terms can sometimes be subjective). Some of these theories are considered by some to not be based on fact or investigation. Some of these theories are considered by some to be barred from attention or consideration Mainstream science follows only the prevailing current of thought, with little deviation. Conventional science acts in accord with and being in tune with traditions or practices accepted from the past. Mainstream science is rigidly formal and bound by convention. Conventional science conforms with accepted standards only. These theories do not follow at least one of these proscribed items, in one aspect or another.


Many of these theories are considered ]; this term refers to a psychological process in which believers in a theory, who may have orignally conformed to the ], unconsciously veer from that method, and begins a pathological process of wishful data interpretation.   • The Cold fusion theory claims that hydrogen can undergo nuclear fusion at room temptature in palladium.
  • The Hollow Earth theory claims that the Earth is hollow, and is possibly populated by a race of superbeings, humans or aliens, and possibily dinosaurs.
