The Zeraeph case looks like it will be accepted soon. I'd like to open this and clerk it if that's okay. <span style="font-family: verdana;"> — ] • ] • </span> 02:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC) The Zeraeph case looks like it will be accepted soon. ::Sounds fine. Brad and I are concerned about the potential for incivility here; I think we should use the same workshop page warning I cooked up for the IRC case and handle incivility the same way. Warn, then ban from the case pages, enforced by blocking, with an escalation. In other words, if user A starts making personal accusation about user B, first warn user A to avoid making personal attacks and simply show what user B has done by diffs; if user A persists, ban from the case for 24 hours, and enforce by blocking if needed, and escalate the bans as well if user A returns to the same stuff after the first ban is over. If you have any questions or concerns contact me and I will keep an eye open too. ] 03:23, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Arbitrator motions

No arbitrator motions are currently open.

This noticeboard's primary purpose is to to attract the attention of the clerks to a particular matter by non-clerks. Non-clerks are welcome to comment on this page in the event that the clerks appear to have missed something.

Private matters

The clerks may be contacted privately, in the event a matter could not be prudently addressed publicly (i.e., on this page), by composing an email to clerks-l@lists.wikimedia.org; only the clerk team and individual arbitrators have access to emails sent to that list.

Procedures

A procedural reference for clerks (and arbitrators) is located here.

Pending actions

Clerks and informal helpers, please coordinate your actions through this section, so that we don't have multiple clerks working on the same cases at the same time. An IRC channel, #wikipedia-en-arbcom-clerks, also exists.

To be opened

Cases may be opened 24 hours after the fourth net vote to accept has been made.

The Zeraeph case looks like it will be accepted soon. I'd like to open this and clerk it if that's okay. — RlevseTalk02:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Sounds fine. Thatcher 03:23, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Motions and temporary injunctions

Motions and temporary injunctions are made by arbitrators on /Proposed decision, and have the same majority for passage as the case itself.

To be closed

Cases may be closed after after the fourth net vote to close, but generally wait at least 24 hours after the first motion to close. In cases where the arbitrators have disagreed and not all the findings or remedies have passed, wait at least 24 hours after the final close vote is cast to give other arbitrators a chance to raise objections.

Reassignment/breaks

Generally, the clerk who opens a case should follow the progress of the case and be available to answer questions from the parties. If for any reason you need someone to take over one or more of your current cases (too busy, wikibreak, etc.), post a request here.

Review

Once the new slate of committee members join, I would like to propose a review of ongoing sanctions. This will cover several areas:

  • A review of any indefinite sanctions that have been in place for six months, in light of their ongoing relevance, with an eye towards sunsetting those sanctions that are no longer needed.
  • A review of 1 year bans which expire during the coming year, to consider the possibility of renewing them.
  • A review of any sanctions that the committee has previously stated it will review.

I would greatly appreciate the organizational assistance of any clerks willing to help prepare for such a review.

This will take some organisation and a little bit of planning, but we'll manage :) obviously, the Clerks are going to have to produce a list of sanctions that fit these criteria (note, I'm not an "official" clerk, but I do help out here)
Perhaps we could assign interested clerks (if being an official clerk isn't necessary, I'd be willing to help) certain periods of time, perhaps a year or a block of months, from the lists at Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Completed requests? Anthøny 20:08, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I've been working along these lines with Misplaced Pages:General sanctions and the skeleton Misplaced Pages:Editing restrictions. Review of sanctions aside, we really do need a canonical list of active remedies; hopefully we'll be able to kill two birds with one stone here. Kirill 21:55, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I've created a list addressing points 1 and 2 at User:Sean William/Reviews. Anyone's welcome to edit it, move it, abuse it, etc. as they see fit. I don't care where it ends up, really. It does use a template that's nested in a subpage, though. I haven't done anything about point 3 yet. Sean William @ 23:55, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
uninvited, do you want a list or do you want a review with comments and recommendations? Thatcher131 00:24, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Template

Yes, it's me, with another odd change to one of the templates we use. See here for an explanation of my change to {{subst:courtesy blanked}}. Picaroon (t) 02:26, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Willing to help out

I'm willing to help out with clerking. I've been doing a little work already around requests for arbitraton.--Phoenix-wiki  21:28, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

I'd be willing to help out in any way needed, too. I've been monitoring the main RFAR page for a bit, and giving informal housekeeping-type help there of the kind the clerks welcome. I'll just keep doing that if that's all that's needed now, but I thought I'd list myself as willing to do more if there's need. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 01:05, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
<aol>Me too!</aol> I expect that with NYB's "ascension" and the other appointments there will be a rush of work, and I'm around to give a hand if needed. — Coren  05:26, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks everybody for volunteering to help out! It comes at a great time because a lot of our current clerks are busy with other things or on wikibreak. Please make sure you all read WP:AC/C/P and use this noticeboard to coordinate if need be. Thanks again! :-) Cbrown1023 talk 07:15, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

New case template

Where do I collect my finders fees for causing and bringing in lots of AC business? Aside from that, do we have an empty case template for WP:RFAR? Perhaps that could be put at the top of the list in a comment so that any user who wants to file a case can copy the code and everything will be formatted neatly. Jehochman 01:22, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

There used to be a blank template commented out at the top of RFAR, but it kept getting overwritten, so we moved it to a subpage Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Request template and linked to it in the GIANT PINK AND RED INSTRUCTION BOX that somehow escaped your notice. :) Thatcher 03:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
