    this two googlepages are already, I believe, monitored by bots for automatic removal. and this has been mostly effective. the user, however, has continued to attempt other methods of self promotion: recently recreating an article (see below) and other edits, plus account creation and ip editing to avoid scrutiny. requesting user accounts be blocked for spamming. - Owlmonkey (talk) 15:46, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

    WikiBlame - Something to add to the toolbox

    Useful for finding out who added a particular external link and when. Whack in the article name and the external link description and it gives you the diff(s) of the link addition. You might have to increase the number of revisions to find the addition. Pick "interpolated" search method for faster results. MER-C 12:13, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

    Ok, at least presently I've only see this an issue on one article, specifically Pork and Beans (song), but several different anon IP have added a link to this site, which is, for purposes of typical WP:EL, is a copyvio since it contains the lyrics to the song as well as an unauthorized copy of the video (the video was premiered by Weezer on YouTube, the fact the YouTube link exists may be why this link keeps getting added).

    While most anons are from a 76.*.*.* domain, this is not consistent with whom is adding it. The fact that 1) there's so few links to this site before this point, and 2) some of the edit comments on the diffs indicated below are interesting, both suggest that there may be a pointed effort to include this link.

    Reading about this guy, I don't think he seems like the usual spammer or the typical self-promoter. He's only gotten one message from us telling him he's crossed our conflict of interest boundaries and he hasn't edited since then.     Link spam violations

    I don't know how to properly report this stuff, but ip 216.73.161.196 and 66.65.142.43 are both spamming the T206 and Goudey articles. You can see the edit history on both those articles. 71.56.118.64 (talk) 22:26, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

    I would appreciate another user taking a look at these. As a member of WP:SHIPS (editing primarily commercial shipping articles), I may be too involved with the subject. I do not work in the cruise industry, but I have a personal interest in the subject.
    To me, this user appears to be adding links to a community forum of personal reviews and photos of multiple cruise ships (some press releases too, but where possible those should be linked directly from the cruise line's website). The user is also doing some useful cleanup to several articles at the same time - so it's a mix of activity.

    poking COIBot

    I notice that sometimes people who are not active on IRC need some link reports. Admins here can now add {{LinkSummary|domain}} to User:COIBot/Poke, when COIBot picks up the edit to that page (and it should), it will put the domains into its reporting queue (high priority, which is, only behind waiting XWiki reports) and create a report on the link(s). The first report should be saved within about 5 minutes, if it takes longer than 15 minutes there is probably something wrong, and it may be useful to add the template with the link again (it reads the added part of the diffs (the right column)), or poke me or another person who is active on IRC personally.
