Coptic Orthodox Churches & Architecture

Hello Ghaly! Well, you may already know what I'm up to, but I should probably tell you anyway.

....I have recently created new articles and you can see them all on my userpage. Among them are the list of Coptic Orthodox Churches in the United States and Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Church (Heliopolis), etc etc. I am even trying to add English and Arabic interwikis to unify the progress. If you can even help with some of the more recent ones (such as the latter), that would be great! Of course, I realize that you are working on Misplaced Pages Masry and so forth (good luck, may be I can help with that).

Kind regards, ~ Troy (talk) 19:36, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Egyptians

Hey Ghaly. Please keep an eye on Egyptians. That same guy continues to vandalize the article. Thanks! --Lanternix (talk) 06:53, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Man, good luck. I'm not going to argue with you... but just good luck —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.186.158 (talk) 13:26, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Coptic Cairo

Hey Ghaly! I think that you did in fact do a great job on Old Cairo-related articles, however, I had to change the images on the Coptic Cairo page due to its current length, which is still a little short. Please help in expanding it for the future if you have the time, because quite frankly, I would like there to be a way to allow for moving the images as you did in your revision. Cheers, ~ Troy (talk) 22:12, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

GhalyBot on Urdu Misplaced Pages

Hello Ghaly,

Your bot GhalyBot is active on Urdu Misplaced Pages. We appreciate the good work that the Bot is doing for maintenance of InterWiki links. Urdu Misplaced Pages community recently held a poll to decide the order of InterWiki links. You can see the poll results in English at our Embassey or the original poll in Urdu here. I have noticed that when your Bot adds or updates any InterWiki links, it also resorts them in alphabetical order by ISO code, which is not the sort order that the community recently decided. My understanding is that this the default implementation of Python Misplaced Pages Robot Framework which you are most likely using. I have already filed a request with them to implement this special sort order for Urdu.

While we wait for this to be implemented in the Framework, I'll request you to update the links without changing the sort order if possible. It would be great if you can implement the new sort order yourself without waiting for the Framework update. You can add the following code in your families\wikipedia.py or wikipedia_family.py file to update the configuration.

'ur': + self.alphabetic

See our Embassy for more details. For any questions or suggestions, please feel free to conatct me.

Regards,
Kashif Aqeel - Urdu Misplaced Pages Administrator

Welcome to the Seventh, admittedly delayed, issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

Yes, it's been more than a bit of a rough time for some of us, okay, me, for a while here. Several things, most of them not real pleasant, kept coming up. I think most of that is over with know. I hope and pray as much anyway. Easter is the church's time of rebirth, and I hope it's a good time for the rebirth of this newsletter. I hope that the project grows in numbers and effectiveness as the church itself has over the years. Thanks again for all your efforts to date. Oh, yes, and please note that this section is entitled "From the Members". That means you, all of you. If any of you have any comments you'd like to share with the other members in this section, please feel free to let us know, and we'll put them in the next issue. We would encourage all members to get more involved and if you are wondering what with, please ask. Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do. Thanks again.

Hello from the new Christian films task force! I was recently apart of founding a task force, so this is the story. For several months, I would not only contribute to Christian films, groups, etc., but I'd also see other users working on similar articles. I really wanted to create a project for us to work from. Filmcom contacted me about trying to get a task force going, so we began working together on it. When it appeared the idea was dying, we continued to fight, and several other users joined!

Thanks to the efforts of many users, I'd like to introduce you to the Christian films task force! We are currently having a bot tag all Christian film-related articles, and we are working to define our project scope. We now have our own icon and shortcut (WP:CFTF), with ten users signed out thus far - these are just some of the things that have been happening in the last few days. If you have any interest in joining such a project, we welcome everyone to join and get involved.

Proposed merger of WikiProject Eastern Orthodoxy and WikiProject Oriental Orthodoxy

It has been proposed that the Oriental Orthodoxy project be merged into the Eastern Orthodoxy project, which would probably be retitled Eastern Christianity after the merger. Please feel free to express an opinion at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Eastern Orthodoxy#Proposed mergers shortly. the proposal has been in place for about a month and a half, and gotten very little attention, so I am contacting directly all members of the Oriental Orthodoxy project about it. Please try to respond, one way or another, within a week of this notice, to expedite matters. Thank you. John Carter (talk) 18:38, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

I am in the process of going through the various categories related to Christianity. I am finding that several of them may not have sufficient number of members to continue. By the end of the month, I hope to have the main category list finished (yeah, it might take that long, it's huge). At that time, I think we will review all the categories and see which may not have sufficient articles to continue. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

Nofri pason Ghaly! King-Kopetzky syndrome

Hi I noticed that you started the article about King-Kopetzky syndrome or Obscure Auditory Dysfunction. Both of which are peculiar to the UK, and have now been absorbed by the UK Medical Research Council into the current Auditory Processing Disorder research program as of 2004. may be you would like toi merge the King-Kopetzky syndrome article into the Auditory Processing Disorder Article, which wil be my next editing project after i have finished my work on the dyslexia project

dolfrog (talk) 15:58, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I would be very grateful if you do not merge them yet , as it stands I think there might be a merit in keeping King-Kopetzky syndrome as a separate article , as it is a well known name and there is plenty of puplications about it.Meanwhile, I will do some inquiries about the subjetc. Many thanks. The dyslexia project: A new beginning

Hi All

I have added some new sections below which have come from various talk pages in recent days but all realted in some way to the dyslexia project. So I have added them all below, in the hope that we can all begin to add our own input as one person working alone can cause also sorts of problems as can be seen above. I will post a copy of this to all who I think may wish to the new begining of the Dyslexia project and a copy will appear on your individual discussion pages ( I hope you do not mind). The oringinal copy of this can be found at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Dyslexiathe talk page of the main prject article you will see revise project template, the changes on the tamplate is the addition of a Project pages section, which includes the orinal project pages and the new STAGE TWO page which is hopefuly the new starting point. the STAGE TWO page has the dyslexia article as it is now. And we can tinker with it without changing the actual article itself and discuss and issue we may have before making further changes to the article itself.

It has been a long time since the last coordinators election. There is a lot for people to do, and I certainly would welcome seeing any individuals with an interest in such a position put themselves forward as candidates. I in particular would very much like to see some degree of "specialization" in the coordinators, so that, for instance, we might have someone knowledgable about some of the specific Christian faith traditions or other main subjects, like Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, art, theology, and so on. If any parties who have experience with some of our faith- or- subject-based content would be interested in being candidates, I would love to see them do so. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

The Christianity WikiProject Newsletter
Issue XI - August 2009
Project news
  • The Christianity project and its related projects currently have 75 FAs, 8 FLs, and 147 GAs, with a net loss of one FA and one GA. Our thanks to those who helped keep some other articles listed, and to those who have worked so diligently in improving all of our articles.
Member news
  • Three new members joined this past month, including new members User:116Calvinist, User:Lrnngrbc, and User:Frazz, bringing us up to 295 listed members. Thanks to you all, and a special welcome to our new members!
Other news
  • Two new pages for the benefit of members of the project have been created. Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Christianity/Mutual aid society is designed to be a place where editors seeking specific assistance from other members can with luck find others who have the abilities or materials they need, and Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Christianity/Special collections is, at this point, the beginnings of a list of publicly accessible special collections libraries which our members might find useful. Anyone who lives near one of the collections listed is encouraged to visit them and see if they can find anything they would like to read or use to improve some of our articles. There are always some discussions regarding project related activities at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. I think the timing of the call for elections might have been bad (summer vacation, what was I thinking?), and have thus changed the period for individuals to run to be one of the project's coordinators. Individuals who have a particular interest or knowledge of specific fields within Christianity are encouraged to run, to serve as a kind of "unit coordinator" for that topic.

One area in particular need of attention right now is the content related to the Oriental Orthodox churches. Several of the topics within this field are of great importance, including the churches themselves, their histories, thinking, and some of the individuals associated with it. Unfortunately, the number of people who belong to the churches, and, correspondingly, the number of editors working on that content, is smaller than it could be. Anyone interested in helping to develop this content is more than welcome to look at the Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Oriental Orthodoxy page and seeing where they can help out.

Proposed deletion of Egyptian Arabic Misplaced Pages

The article Egyptian Arabic Misplaced Pages has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable internet encyclopedia, violates self-ref.

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MBisanz 01:33, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

hi Ghaly

I am an Orthodox Christian from India. The Oriental Orthodox website is being distorted by adding a chart showing the false history of India. The history which is depicted in the chart is actually the manipulated history of the catholic church. It is false. Would you please spare some time , and please do something so that this chart is not put again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.22.97.34 (talk) 11:09, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

The anonymous editor surely may not be aware that "help me in my edit war" is a bad thing to do. But what he really needs to do is help to fix the chart and not just delink it. The chart has problems, for which the solution is to fix the chart. So far he has shown no interest in actually doing so. Tb (talk) 17:11, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
