Downton Abbey is a British television period drama, produced by Carnival Films for the ITV Network (ITV1 and UTV) - STV in Scotland have not broadcast the programme. It was created and principally written by Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes.
Overview
The show is set in 1912, in an Edwardian country house - Downton Abbey. It follows the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them.
Highclere Castle in Berkshire was used as Downton Abbey, with the servants' living areas constructed and filmed at Ealing Studios.
