Trial on the Road ( Error: {{Transliteration}}: missing language / script code (help)) is a 1971 Soviet film set in World War II, directed by Aleksey German, starring Rolan Bykov, Anatoliy Solonitsyn and Vladimir Zamansky. Trial on the Road was censored and taken off circulation for 15 years after its release due to its unflattering depiction of Soviet soldiers. The film is based on a story by the director's father, Yuri German.
Plot
The story revolves around Red Army lieutenant Lazarov, who had defected to fight for the German Army but has now switched sides again, joining a group of partisans. The leaders of the resistance fighters, played by Bykov and Solonitskin, regard the defector differently and are determined to put his loyalty to the test.
