Art Institute

We need permission from The Art Institute of Chicago to have free use of Nighthawks - the image hunters want to delete it from all but two articles. Someone should call the Art Institute from the Chicago project, I can't do it - I am tied up in real life. See the discussion here:, thanks Tony...Modernist (talk) 00:17, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Files missing description details

Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 17:02, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Hey Tony, I responded on the Novels talk page. Thank you for all the work you are doing for curating information to derivative works. The notions that TomCat refers to assumes that we have an elitist academic audience, which seems absurd. Don't be discouraged and keep up the good work! Sadads (talk) 20:00, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Better source request for File:EMK eulogy of RFK.ogg

Thanks for your upload to Misplaced Pages:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:27, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Please join the discussion

You have been suggested as an editor who works in several sports areas. Please would you look at Talk:List_of_gymnasts#A_further_reorganisation_is_tempting and the proposal beneath it, and give a considered view on how best to move the list forward? Please feel free (I know you will anyway) to ask for as many other eyes as you see fit. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 18:47, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Actually I don't know the sport either, so I'm hoping you'll have a look anyway. You were recommended because you have wide sport article experience, and might bring a multi-sport perspective to a list of (presumably) notable athletes. Obviously I respect your thought that you have little experience in this particular sport. The recommender was simply hoping that a broader experience of articles of this nature might give guidance on format. I arrived in the article in the first place by looking at it while doing something else entirely and thinking the format was simply awful. My sport is couch-sitting ;) Fiddle Faddle (talk) 07:45, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

WikiCup 2013 April newsletter

We are a week into Round 3, but it is off to a flying start, with Republic of Rose Island Sven Manguard (submissions) claiming for the high-importance Portal:Sports and Portal:Geography (which are the first portals ever awarded bonus points in the WikiCup) and Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) claiming for a did you know of sea, the highest scoring individual did you know article ever submitted for the WikiCup. Round 2 saw very impressive scores at close; first place New South Wales Casliber (submissions) and second place Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) both scored over 1000 points; a feat not seen in Round 2 since 2010. This, in part, has been made possible by the change in the bonus points rules, but is also testament to the quality of the competition this year. Pool C and Pool G were most competitive, with three quarters of participants making it to Round 3, while Pool D was the least, with only the top two scorers making it through. The lowest qualifying score was 123, significantly higher than last year's 65, 2011's 41 or even 2010's 100.

The next issue of The Signpost is due to include a brief update on the current WikiCup, comparing it to previous years' competitions. This may be of interest to current WikiCup followers, and may help bring some more new faces into the community. We would also like to note that this round includes an extra competitor to the 32 advertised, who has been added to a random pool. This extra inclusion seems to have been the fairest way to deal with a small mistake made before the beginning of this round, but should not affect the competition in a large way. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact one of the judges.

A rules clarification: content promoted between rounds can be claimed in the round after the break, but not the round before. The case in point is content promoted on 29/30 April, which may be claimed in this round. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Basketball player infobox conversions

Hi Tony - We are at that time (after close of the NCAA season but before the NBA Draft) when we migrate basketball player infoboxes for those who have completed their college eligibility from Template:Infobox NCAA athlete to Template:Infobox basketball biography. I have been converting these and just wanted to check in and see if you wanted me to convert them for the player articles that you created (Trey Burke, Ian Hummer, etc.) or if you wanted to handle it. The conversion is pretty easy, but the one thing that changes is the removal of tournaments, championships (other than national titles) and some awards/honors so these sometimes need to be emphasized in the text. Let me know your preference. I am happy to help, but know that you may want to do this yourself for some articles. Rikster2 (talk) 13:17, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Tony - if you want to wait til the end of classes but will commit to taking care of it that is fine. I would say that very few people are going to these players' articles as college players anymore with the season over - they are looking at them as potential draft picks/pro players. I have converted infoboxes for players who have been out of college three years lately and there is no sense in allowing this to happen any longer. Rikster2 (talk) 14:51, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
I will bet you a sum of your choosing that every single one of the 2012-13 college players who have articles play basketball somewhere next year. Bottom line, if the infoboxes for those who have declared for the draft (obvious intent to play pro ball) aren't done right before draft night i will do them just prior. Also, I have no obligation to weigh in on any wiki discussion. Rikster2 (talk) 22:43, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
I am not concerned with Albrecht right now - he has 3 years before he is of concern. Horford will play professionally somewhere, bank on it. The guys whose eligibility is up will all be playing professionally next year. Bottom line - I will be converting infoboxes. like I said, I'll leave your created articles alone until the time comes but there is no issue with doing what I am doing. No one seems to get conerned that we let articles of pro players hang out there with outdated NCAA infoboxes for literally years. Those who get drafted by the NBA need to be ready for the activity that always comes with the draft - slapping templates on and hastily creating articles of picks with no entries. Templates for creation

Sure i'll check them out. It may take a while since I have a bunch of others I still want to get to and i'm only able to edit on the weekends, but i'll get to them as quickly as I can.--TheMovieBuff (talk) 16:03, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Chicago PD

I agree that this (and Chicago Fire need to disambiguated, but that is not why I am writing. Could you please take a look at the little edit war I am having with User:CSB radio on that page. I think it is just silly to use a word that is not in most people's vocabulary when a word that everyone knows would convey the exact same meaning. He is behaving in an inappropriate way in his edit summaries, too. Thanks for whatever you feel like doing. Gtwfan52 (talk) 18:22, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
