David Perdue (born December 10, 1949) is businessman running for the U.S Senate seat occupied be retiring Senator Saxby Chambliss. He won the most votes in the Republican Primary election in Georgia on May 20, 2014, and is running against incumbent representative Jack Kingston in the runoff primary July 22, 2014.
Career
Perdue was a Principal of Kurt Salmon Associates, a management consulting firm. He served as the Senior Vice President of Asia Operations for Sara Lee,establishing the company's first Asia headquarters.
As President and CEO of the Reebok brand, he was credited with revitalizing the athletic brand. It was during this time that Reebok signed an exclusive rights contract with the NFL. And as Chairman and CEO of Dollar General, he oversaw the company's expansion from 5,900 to 8,500 stores nationwide creating thousands of quality jobs. While at Dollar General, he became heavily involved in literacy and served as Chairman of the National Commission on Literacy and Workforce Development. Other brands that he is associated with include Haggar, Rockport, Champion, Hanes, Levi's, Greg Norman, Polo Ralph Lauren, Riddel, and Coach.
