He won the most votes in the Republican Primary election in Georgia on May 20, 2014, and is running against incumbent representative Jack Kingston in the runoff primary July 22, 2014.

Perdue was a Principal of Kurt Salmon Associates, a management consulting firm. He served as the Senior Vice President of Asia Operations for Sara Lee,establishing the company's first Asia headquarters. As President and CEO of the Reebok brand, he was credited with revitalizing the athletic brand. It was during this time that Reebok signed an exclusive rights contract with the NFL.
