Ryan Martinie (aka "Ryknow" or "Ru-D") is the bass guitarist in the alternative metal band Mudvayne (and former bass guitarist of a band known as Poorhouse which he played in during college). He is within a beholder's eye of one of the elite of bassists in the heavy metal genre. He is ideally known for his funk influenced slap bass technique, as well as using a myriad of other bass techniques. He has also pioneered a new technique, using his double-jointed fingers to create a "semi-pop" sound. This sound is highly prominent in the song "Severed". He has said that one of his influences is Rush bassist Geddy Lee, but the inspiration is much more vast than just progressive bass playing. He also has extended bass solos at some Mudvayne concerts.
