The 2014 Canadian Parliament Hill attack began on October 22, 2014 when one gunman shot a Canadian Forces soldier outside the Canadian National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The gunman then proceeded into the Canadian Parliament buildings, where he was reportedly shot dead

Subsequent to these initial events, Ottawa's downtown core was put under lockdown. Ottawa Police have stated they are investigating three shootings: one at the Canadian National War Memorial, one at Parliament Hill, and one near the Rideau Centre. The attack comes after two Canadian Forces soldiers were struck by an ISIL sympathizer in a car, killing one of them, and after Canada raised its terror threat level from low to medium.
