Tennis tournament
The 2015 Australian Open is a tennis tournament played on the outdoor hard courts at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia. It will be played from January 19 to February 1, and will feature men's and women's events in singles and doubles, as well as mixed doubles. The tournament will also feature junior, senior, and wheelchair events. Stan Wawrinka is the defending champion in men's singles, while Li Na was the defending champion in the women's tournament, but announced her retirement on September 19 2014.

Main draw wildcard entries
Four wildcards each will be awarded by internal selection to Australian players. Also, one wildcard each will be given to the winners of the Australian Wildcard Playoff, a tournament taking place in December 2014 between Australian players who did not receive direct entry into the draw.
