Cissé does not seem to meet the inclusion criteria for footballers. He does not play in a fully professional legaue, and being on a national team alone is not grounds for inclusion.   • Comment Being a member of a national team is not grounds for inclusion. Playing with a national team in a Tier 1 competition is, but the article merely says he is a member of a national team, it does not identify that he played in any games as such, let alone Tier 1 games.John Pack Lambert (talk) 01:42, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
    • I'm not sure about the phrasing of "being a member of a national team" as that can imply being in the squad but not necessarily playing. However, playing for a national team is grounds for inclusion as friendly matches are also Tier 1 International matches. His article states that he has made 3 appearances for the national team and if you go to the first reference (his Soccerway profile) you can see the matches listed that he has been involved in (some as an unsed sub but others (like this, a friendly against Equatorial Guinea) in which he has actually played). Comment - further to User:Johnpacklambert's earlier comment, participation in a tier 1 international match is sufficient, not tier 1 competition. For what it's worth, African Nations Championships matches are recorded as friendlies by FIFA per the last link in my last comment. Hack (talk) 16:47, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

• Strong Keep - subject of the article clearly passes WP:NFOOTY, the subject has played in an international tournament (the African Nations Championship) and thus comfortably satisfies the WP:NFOOTY requirements. Even if the Hack's comment is correct and the African Nations Championship is really counted as a friendly, that still satisfies the requirement as the subject of the article appeared for his national team either way. Yes sorry it appears that I misinterpreted your post, either though I think we agree that this tournament the subject took part in is recognized as an international match — whether it be seen as a competitive match or a friendly. Inter&anthro (talk) 07:03, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

I don't normally pay attention to who is nominating, but I note that even after this discussion, they've nominated 3 more national teams players today.
