Rebecca Loos (born on June 19, 1977) is a glamour model who was personal assistant to English soccer player David Beckham. In April 2004, she claimed that she had had an adulterous relationship with him. She has gone on to become a media personality, tabloid target and successful glamour model and television personality. Loos was born in Madrid, Spain.
Rebecca Loos is also a successful portable toilet hire service based in Jersey.
Early life and career
When former England football captain David Beckham moved to Real Madrid on a four year contract on 17 June 2003, he and his family needed help moving and settling in. His management company SFX sought out a young, capable, multi-lingual female who could take on the role of personal assistant during the transition period. Loos was the only employee in the SFX Madrid office who spoke English and Spanish fluently, so she immediately began getting Beckham comfortable in Madrid.
Beckham and Loos worked closely together both professionally and socially, and Loos claimed that she became an "alternative wife". As Beckham's wife Victoria wanted to develop her UK music career, and as she was not initially happy in Madrid, she spent much of her time in England. Loos claimed this resulted in Beckham becoming bored, them spending almost all their time together socially, and that this led to a four month affair.
Loos sold her story to the News of the World tabloid newspaper in April 2004, explaining that they had had a whirlwind affair that included sexy text messages - which were later published. She added to the intense speculation with both revelations mainly about Victoria Beckham and then the announcement of her own bisexuality. The story generated a huge amount of publicity in the tabloid press, launching Loos's career as an ephemeral celebrity.
Media career
In 2004 she presented Shownieuws on Dutch television together with Gerard Joling, a singer who represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988. Her appearance was unsuccessful and short-lived, partly due to the strength of her English accent when speaking Dutch. She failed to attract the ratings producers had hoped for and was dropped from the show. She has since appeared on the front cover of Dutch Playboy launching herself as a celebrity sex symbol, with further lad mag shoots with Nuts, Zoo and FHM, to name a few.
In October 2004, she appeared on the reality television programme The Farm, a Channel 5 version of the RTE show Celebrity Farm. At one point she was famously given the task of masturbating a pig and collecting its semen. The broadcast of this provoked controversy, attracted complaints, and generated extra publicity for Loos, who made tabloid headlines once again as a result.
The incident was viewed by some commentators as an apt example of the depths to which Z-list celebrities would go for public exposure, and the lengths to which the producers of reality television would go to humiliate them in order to satisfy the interests of viewers (see also I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!). The RSPCA weighed in on the controversy, claiming that the incident, and indeed the whole series, was evidence of an unnatural interest in the sexual aspects of farm animals.
In 2005, Loos appeared on the ITV reality show Celebrity Love Island, where she sparked up a relationship with the model Calum Best. Their flirtatious fling managed to cause a stir in the British tabloids when the pair discarded their microphones and disappeared in the resort's toilets for a quickie. In 2006 she played for the England Women's football team in a Sky TV charity event.
During an interview with British newspaper News of the World in December 2006 Rebecca revealed she is currently filming a reality TV show in which she teaches "lotto lout" Michael Carroll the art of seduction and good manners, named 'Teaching Mike'. She is also in the process of self-penning her autobiography and even 2 years after her her initial revelations she is still bombarded with work offers connected with her celebrity status.
X Factor: Battle of the Stars
She also starred in The X Factor: Battle of the Stars (2006), under the "groups" category, mentored by Simon Cowell singing along with James Hewitt. The pair received a predominantly hostile response from the audience and abuse from judge Sharon Osbourne. Their chosen charity for the show was Save the Children. They were voted out in the 4th out of 8 shows on Thursday 01 June 2006. It was public knowledge that Sharon Osbourne did not like Rebecca and insulted her after one of her performances saying, "You should try doing tomorrow's performance with your knickers on because it will help warm up your voice...you have a very bad vibe that comes from you..you have nice boobs, though, you've had a very nice boob job." It took a lot of persuading to convince Rebecca to stay in the competition after being publicly humiliated on the show.
Personal life
Loos was born in Madrid, Spain, the daughter of a Dutch diplomat and an English mother. Growing up, she was privately educated. After moving back to Madrid in 2002, Loos worked for an American investment bank, looking after bankers.
Shortly after the newspaper coverage of her relationship with David Beckham, Loos came out publicly as a bisexual, saying "I am indeed bisexual and have been ever since I was a teenager" (The Observer).
In 1999 while in London, she had a series of lesbian lovers, including media personality and glamour model Abi Titmuss and estate agent and TV presenter Emma Basden with whom she would enjoy a long term relationship. When Loos moved to Madrid, she claims to have seduced a previously straight blonde French au pair called Virginie
In the period before Celebrity Love Island, Loos had her breasts enlarged from 34C to 34D. During the transmissions of Celebrity Love Island in May 2005, Loos kissed Abi Titmuss and then cuddled up to Calum Best in the Love Shack.
In 2005, in protest at America's laws on gay marriage, Loos "married" famous fashion lesbian model Jenny Shimizu for the TV program Power Lesbian UK . It was broadcast in the USA as Power Lesbians on LOGO which profiled successful lesbians in Los Angeles. The two shared a relationship for a period afterwards. Like many celebrities Rebecca also owns a dog, a pug named Bubu which has made several appearances in magazines and TV alongside her owner.
