Euripides Laskaridis is a Greek director and performer known for his exploration of elements such as ridicule and transformation. His work spans various mediums, including staged performances, site-specific productions, film directing, teaching, and workshops.

Short Bio

Born in Athens, Greece, Laskaridis studied acting at the Art Theatre Karolos Koun in Athens and pursued directing at Brooklyn College in New York, supported by an Onassis Foundation Scholarship. Since 1995, he has collaborated with artists like Dimitris Papaioannou, Robert Wilson, and Dionysis Savvopoulos. In 2000, Laskaridis started directing his own work, encompassing staged performances, site-specific productions, and short films. In 2009, he founded the OSMOSIS performing arts company, gaining recognition on a global scale.

Laskaridis received the inaugural Pina Bausch Fellowship in 2016, spending three months observing director and choreographer Lemi Ponifasio internationally. In 2017, he was recognized as a "Promising Talent" by the German "tanz" magazine and in 2022, he received the Onassis Air Fellowship, supporting the advancement of his artistic research.

Artistic Practice

Laskaridis' artistic practices converge at the intersection of theatre, dance, and visual arts. Described as interdisciplinary and diverse, his work is characterized by elements of ridicule and transformation. His works are characterized by a non-linear narrative, involving commonplace materials and everyday detritus. They explore the nuanced boundaries between the real and the imaginary, as well as the familiar and the unknown.

OSMOSIS Performing Arts Company

Established in 2009, OSMOSIS is Laskaridis' artistic platform. The company, with a central core of collaborators, delves into everyday life, collective subconscious, imagination, and absurdity. Notable stage works by Euripides and OSMOSIS include "Relic," "Titans," and "Elenit," which have toured internationally.

Selected Works

Relic (2015): The company’s first traveling stage work, Relic, selected for Aerowaves 2015.

Titans (2017): An iternational co-production that premiered at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival.

Elenit (2019): An international co-production that premiered at Onassis Stegi.

Here Not Here (2020): A short docu-film based on "Elenit," created during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Mando (2021): A short film inspired by the life of Mando Mavrogenous, commissioned by the Greek National Opera.
