On 25 December 2024, Pakistan Air Force conducted airstrikes across four villages in Afghanistan's Barmal District, The strikes reportedly killed 20–25 terrorists and destroyed Murg Bazaar.
On 28 December 2024, the Afghan Taliban launched attacks on several locations within Pakistan in retaliation for earlier Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory that killed Afghans. Pakistan had earlier conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan's Paktika Province that killed Afghans.
Background
Prior to the deadly December 2024 airstrikes, there had been lighter skirmishes between Pakistan and Afghan forces earlier in 2024.
