Rene Arredondo (born June 15, 1961 in Apatzingan, Mexico) was a Mexican boxer. Arredondo turned pro in 1979 and won the WBC Light Welterweight Title by beating Lonnie Smith by TKO in 1986. He lost the title in his first defense against Tsuyoshi Hamada. In 1987 he rematched Hamada and regained the title in a first round KO. He again lost the title in his first defense, to Roger Mayweather. He continued to fight, and retired in 1997, but never fought for the title again. Now he is working in Los Angeles in a Boxing Gym.
Arredondo is the younger brother of former World Champion Ricardo Arredondo, and Roberto Arredondo who fought under the name of "Chiba Arredondo" in Japan.
