Ron Paul on Template:Libertarianism

On Template:Conservatism_footer, Ronald Reagan is included. Ron Paul is the single biggest cause of the growth of the libertarian movement both in the United States and around the world, so it makes sense to keep him in the libertarian sidebar.--Jay942942 (talk) 19:00, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure you realize that libertarian "around the world" has meant anarchist (meaning, socialist/anti-capitalist) for over 150 years. The US has a "Libertarian Party" and libertarianism, in jaw-droppingly ironic thrust of neoliberal ideology, has taken on the opposite of its meaning since the 70s. Also, the North Korea is a 'Democratic People's Republic.' Why do we care what political parties call themselves? I just don't understand what Ron Paul's laissez faire liberalism has contributed to libertarian philosophy. Finx (talk) 15:45, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
