How is the sentence "Bob Dylan is a famous musician" "peacockish" or "non-neutral"? If fame can't be measured, then neither can be notability. Regarding "controversially"—"controversial" is something that attracts controversy. What's "biased" about any of that? Toccata quarta (talk) 23:59, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Re: Traditional Chinese medicine
To make the page history more complete, pretty much. As described in principle 10 of my notes about importing, an import has absolutely no effect on the content of the page that readers see, except for some bizarre corner cases that don't apply to the Traditional Chinese medicine page. In other words, a reader would have never seen the 2001 revisions that Traditional Chinese medicine that I imported, unless they went into the page history to look for them. Reliable Sources Question
Hi. I was the one who added Imperial Circus Dead Decadence into the list of melodic death metal bands. I just now saw that it was removed because of an "unreliable source". Would Encyclopedia Metallum/Metal Archives be considered reliable? If not, what sources are considered reliable besides below?
Some of ICDD and their latest album's info found here: vaguedge.info and Imperial Circus Dead Decadence | 狂おしく咲いた凄惨な骸は奏で、愛おしく裂いた少女は聖餐の詞を謳う。 (Both Japanese) Right now, I'm looking for more sources that would be credible.

Your message on my page entitled TIP
Please forgive me, but the actual meaning of your cryptic message on an edit from nearly 6 years ago escapes me. The Misplaced Pages style essays you referenced seemed rather off into left field. If I inadvertently hit some nerve with you, I assure you it was not my intention. Were you wanting a reference for the asserted fact? Generally, we try not to overburden an opening paragraph with a cite for every sentence but if you feel that is needed, I'll be happy to do it. 6 years ago, I was not as good at using Google Books as I am now. I mostly watch over the Fudge related articles to keep profanity from blighting them. Thankfully, Penuche doesn't attract it as much as others. I'd be glad to look up some cites from various sources to legitimize the use of the term you singled out, Brown Sugar Candy, if necessary. It would be better, stylistically speaking, to develop the article further by adding paragraphs on regional varieties and their corresponding names with the citations placed in those paragraphs. The article would benefit from such expansion in my view and if you have an interest in regional cooking, or regional desserts, I could certainly use the help and enthusiasm. It would be pleasant to have a little help filling out such articles. Penuche is such a basic flavor and recipe in so many cultures and regions of the USA. I feel it deserves more attention than it has gotten in the existing article. I admit to being a bit of a foodie, having worked in catering to pay my Grad School bills. In these days of canned frostings, Semi-homemade everythings and the loss of regional and ethnic methods and tastes in baking, it would be sweet indeed, to delve more deeply into the heavenly but simple combination of ingredients that give Penuche its memorable taste, texture and place of honor in our memories of holidays past. Do let me know how I can help wit this and any other article you have your eye upon. LiPollis (talk) 19:48, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Quotes and verification
Hi Curb Chain, I don't know if we've run into each other before, but I wanted to bring something up. If you feel that a source needs to be verified by a quotation, it's usually best to use a template like {{Request quotation}} or something similar as described here. Removing the information (as here and here) is usually not the best way to go about it (barring BLP or MEDRS issues). If it is not urgent, there's nothing wrong with waiting for a source to be verified after requesting a quote. Let me know if you have any questions, Mark Arsten (talk) 14:58, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

John Moulton
In reference to the deleted article John Moulton (medical practitioner) I'm wondering if you might reconsider your opposition to this article. I have recently read WP:NRU and feel that it conclusively proves Moulton's notability for inclusion in Misplaced Pages. I hope you will agree and assist me in it being reinstated. As the team doctor he was an administrator of a "High Performance Union" for a long period and also at the time of winning the Rugby World Cup so he is clearly deemed notable by current standards. IP user edit removal notification
Hello I made a recent edit and noticed a removal message a few days later. Upon checking the page I edited I noticed my edits remained unchanged. Looking more closely at the removal message I noticed a date 2 months previous to my recent edit and recalled the fact that I had not logged in but was content to edit as an IP user on this occasion. Is it against Wiki-policy to cite the actual edit in question when a removal/NPOV violation is being carried out by an editor? Citing the edit or article in the removal message would clear up some confusion as to whose edit it was for the users of a public IP address. Also, some blurb including directions on responding to one of these messages besides "use the talk page" might save time for first-time recipients.(i.e. I'm not even sure this is what to do...) Editing war prevention in the area of yoga
Hi Curb Chain. There have been several occasions when you have reverted edits made by me and other editors, often in articles related to yoga. Most of the yoga articles on Misplaced Pages could do with a good deal of clean-up, and the edits that I'm making are toward that end. When you consistently revert edits, it provkes and editing war. Hi, Curb Chain. There's a discussion here on WP:ANI that you have already been alerted about. You removed the alert and haven't taken part so far. Topic ban
Hi, Curb Chain. Per ANI discussion here, you are topic banned from editing lists and their talkpages, and all listrelated entries on noticeboards, broadly construed, for six months from now. This means, for example, that you can't nominate lists at WP:AFD or take part in list discussions there. Please ask for instance me or Postdlf, now or later, if the extent of this ban is in any way unclear. Bishonen | talk 19:49, 18 June 2013 (UTC).
The scope of your ban
Hi, Curb Chain. The article Sex symbol is a list article. It consists largely of lists, and your own edits also very much address the list aspect of it. Under your topic ban, you don't get to edit list articles. Now, I don't blame you for editing Sex symbol. I didn't make it clear in the wording of the ban that it applies also to list articles without the word "list" in the title. To be frank, it didn't occur to me that there were such articles. My fault. But now that we have seen this example, please don't edit any articles of this nature either. They do fall under the ban. If you're in any doubt at all about a particular article, please ask before you edit.
On another note, I don't quite see your edit summary argument for this recent edit: "must contain "symbol" as established on talk page". How do you mean, "established"? I admit I haven't read the entire talkpage; where was it established? I sincerely hope you're not referring to this section, where you state that the word "sex symbol" must be in the source? A rather technical definition; but if there's consensus for it, fine. If you're just referring to yourself, not fine at all. Bishonen | talk 18:17, 20 June 2013 (UTC).
- And it's the wrong answer to the question posed there, anyway; the question was what does "notable" mean in the context of that list, and it simply means that every entry in the list must merit their own article. You (Curb Chain) were addressing how to verify whether someone "is" a sex symbol.
But as far as your involvement in determining that at sex symbol, it's moot anyway, as Bishonen correctly pointed out that being topic banned from editing lists means you can't edit lists, period, regardless of whether the whole article is a list or also contains prose or whether the article is named "list of..." Your edit only removed a list's entry and so is clearly covered by the ban, something I don't think Bishonen needed to spell out in advance. postdlf (talk) 18:39, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- Shouldn't that discussion be closed by someone uninvolved in the discussion? Also, the closing statement said list articles, so you are saying I am banned from editing embedded lists?Curb Chain (talk) 01:25, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- And here is but only one discussion set forth on the talk page: Talk:Sex symbol#Edit Notice Proposal.Curb Chain (talk) 01:43, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, there's an edit notice. Sorry I didn't see it, my browser is a little jumpy like that. Of course I would have found it if your edit summary had referred to it instead of to the talkpage (where there most certainly isn't "but only one discussion set forth").
- Yes, you're banned from editing or commenting on list articles = articles containing lists as a major part of their content.
- No, there was nothing improper in me closing the discussion, in my opinion. I was completely uninvolved with you, had never seen your name before, and had only attended to the ANI discussion, linking to previous discussions, inviting the people who did have experience of working with you to comment, and summarizing. The closure was part of that summarizing. It seems a little late to raise an objection now to the part I played. What about when the thread had been closed and the ban logged on Misplaced Pages:Editing restrictions and here on your page in the section above?
- Both I and Postdlf have pointed out here, in different ways, that your post-ban edit was to the list part of the article; it addressed the list, in fact it removed a list entry. Do you not see our point, or prefer not to address it, or what? Instead you double back to a not really timely issue: my closing of the ANI discussion. I'm beginning to see why people have found it a little frustrating to talk with you. Anyway. Since the extent of the ban apparently remains a problem after my and Postdlf's clarifications above, please simply ask before you edit or discuss any article with anything that remotely looks like a list in it. (On my page, Postdlf's page, or the Administrators' noticeboard, whichever you prefer.) The term "broadly construed" is intended to discourage hairsplitting.
- If you wish to contest your ban or any aspect of it, including my closure of the ANI thread, please do so on WP:AN. Bishonen | talk 14:46, 21 June 2013 (UTC).
- I think you are misreading my language. What I meant by that phrase is that is one of several discussions set forth on the talk page.Curb Chain (talk) 01:10, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- I have no experience with people banning me or such a situation as transpired at ANI. I had no experience with Misplaced Pages:Editing restrictions nor did I know it was logged nor was I notified of that. Frankly, I did not know being reticent would result in block or ban. (If I had know, I would have answered the grievances at ANI.)Curb Chain (talk) 01:15, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- The above responses are my addressing the point you state, because I did not know being reticent would result in a block or ban, and because I feel you are not a neutral user to close that discussion. Note that the people supporting the ban stated reasons that had nothing to do with list articles.Curb Chain (talk) 01:20, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
- Note also User:RA0808's edits on List of screamo bands where he provided no edit summary, and did exactly the same edits that you and others have concerns about. Either his edits are unacceptable, or there was something wrong with how you closed the ANI.Curb Chain (talk) 01:53, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
