re: Question

I hadn't seen your question until after I'd also posted on the user's page. I've been convinced for a while now there's an issue here. I eventually emailed checkuser-en-wp@wikipedia.org on Friday but, as yet, haven't heard anything back. Not even a rejection of my request - which is a bit disappointing. Hi, I have to strongly disagree with you on the review that you gave to the page. I put lots of reliable sources like Corriere della Sera, Repubblica and Fumettologica (three big outlets) and the sources that directs to Napoli Comicon's website are the ones about dates or the history of the festival, not its relevance (look at the page of Etna Comics: it has less notes a from sites that are not as relevant or reliable as the ones that I put in Comicon's page - there's a note in Etna Comics page that directs to Meganerd, which is basically a fansite). Hi @Conte Grievous: for basic verifiability purposes, information needs to be reliably referenced. That can include close primary sources, within reason (meaning, not too extensively, and only to support non-contentious factual information), but when 70% of the citations are to the organisation's own website and Facebook feed, and the majority of the information in the draft is supported only by such close primary sources, that's no longer within reason. We are not interested in what the organisation in question wants to say about itself, we're interested in what independent secondary sources have said. Since you have found some secondary sources, I suggest you rewrite this by summarising their coverage, and limit the use of close primary sources to the bare minimum. In German, there is no such detailed distinction between "rejected" and "declined".

I have removed the two sources from Blogspot and Wordpress. As for Discogs, I honestly don't know what the problem is. In my citations, I refer to scans of the booklets belonging to the respective CDs. These scans are absolutely objective and reputable. What is supposed to be non-reliable about them? Unfortunately, there is no other way to refer to these booklets, as there is no other database that makes the contents of the booklets available. The only possibility would be to treat the booklets like a literature source. Would that be a solution?

You write at the end that not all sections are referenced. You list the first three ones and additionally the infobox as not referenced. This is not correct. In my last version of the draft, however, this is exactly the case.

As far as the info box is concerned, however, I am more than surprised. Since when does the infobox have to be referenced? I have looked at several infoboxes from different albums. Nowhere did I find a referencing of these. So what exactly do you mean?

Hi @Mondra Diamond,

Regarding the infobox, per WP:INFOBOXREF it doesn't need to be referenced, if it repeats information that is included and referenced elsewhere. So if you don't want to add cites into the infobox (which indeed would be sub-optimal), you need to ensure that the same information is referenced in the main body.

Other than that, I'm not entirely sure what I can do to help? You're of course welcome to resubmit the draft if you're confident that there are no remaining issues. @Mondra Diamond: that could work; I seem to remember reading somewhere that album covers and booklets are acceptable sources to support non-contentious information such as track listings, contributor names, etc. (Whether the fair-use policy on album artwork allows that, I don't know.) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:51, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Leoneix: you just put this template {{Time userbox}} on your userpage, and specify the time offset from UTC because the template can't tell what your local time is unless you tell it. Companion Volume to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Hi. We are surprised by your comments. Firstly, our submission is supported by 33 references (academic books and journals) and 8 footnotes incl. sources. Secondly, our submission is not written in the style of an advertisement. We are the official translators of the CEFR-CV into German. In this role, we have not only read every line and sentence of it but also referred back to the Council of Europe's authoring team whenever a point did not seem clear to us. Our intention is to give a balanced overview of the new CEFR-Companion Volume without neglecting critical appraisals. You may be interested to know that we submitted a similar article to the German Misplaced Pages, which was accepted and published without changes. I think you may have got the wrong reviewer. I didn't decline this draft. I only commented on it, asking why are there those tags in the headings, as if it has been copypasted from somewhere? But now that you're here, perhaps you can answer that?

A few other points, based on what you say:

• Misplaced Pages user accounts are strictly for use by a single individual. If you represent a team, as it would appear, you will need to set up separate accounts for each team member involved in editing Misplaced Pages.
• You also almost certainly have some type of conflict of interest (COI), at the very least a general one, and quite possibly a special paid-editing one. This needs to be formally disclosed. (And if you do set up separate user accounts, each of them needs to make the disclosure.)
• Whether or not the German-language Misplaced Pages has accepted an article on this subject says, in and of itself, nothing about whether the English-language one will, as each language version is an entirely separate project with their own guidelines and policies. I'm not saying this draft couldn't be accepted here, only that this will depend on factors which do not include prior acceptance into the German-language Misplaced Pages.

I did, indeed, copypaste the text from a Word-file, unaware that this would leave particular tags. Should/could I remove these?

The account is on me alone. By "We" I mean Jürgen Quetz and myself, who together translated the CEFR-CV into German. Since Jürgen is physically handicapped, I am doing the "handwork", while we communicate closely on all content matters.

We do not have any COI. We are not commissioned or paid by anyone. Neither are we the authors of the CEFR-CV or writing on behalf of the Council of Europe. Our sole motivation is to update Misplaced Pages content on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and provide a reliabel overview of the Council of Europe's new "Companion Volume" (2020). This information has been missing so far.

By referring to the German-language Misplaced Pages I meant to say that we have considered all their compliance issues, which are identical with the English-language Misplaced Pages's. I am, of course, aware that the English-language Misplaced Pages is a separate project.

Do let me know if there is anything else I can do or provide.

I'm not sure what you meant on the comment, I had read the comment hundreds of times and I still don't understand it. Unless if you were asking me to add rebuilt locomotives outside the USA, because if that's the case I believe that, and I have added rebuilt diesels in the UK and as far as France. What I'm saying is that it is quite US-centric to present this as a definitive listing, unless it is in fact the case that these things only exist in the USA, and there only the ones listed in this draft.
