On 28 December 2024, the Afghan Taliban launched attacks on several locations within Pakistan in retaliation for earlier Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory that killed Afghanis. Pakistan had earlier conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan's Paktika Province that killed Afghanis.

Background

Prior to the deadly December 2024 airstrikes, there had been lighter skirmishes between Pakistan and Afghan forces earlier in 2024.
